Lot of talk about Koulibaly, what is the view on here?

Only know by reputation he’s a top player. However nobody has managed to get him out of Napoli as the owner is a header. Would take some doing. Think he’s nearly 30 now too?

Old, too expensive and plays in the one position we are well stocked in

Not sure he is.. could get 5-6 years out of him easily..

We do have history with aged centre backs...

39m for Koulibaly would be alright business. He's still got a good 3 or 4 seasons at his current level and would definitely improve us.

Are you a zat multi
Koubailly for 35 m sell Holgate for 20 and you have improved our defence immensely for the next 3 /4 seasons for 15m
No idea of his wage demands though

He turns 30 in the summer. He could definitely play for 3/4 seasons Jonny evans is 33

Him alongside Godfrey /Keane would be immense with Mina and Keane /Godfrey as back up

If we go for Koulibaly it would surely be to play with Godfrey.

That would mean one of Mina and Keane being sold. He'd be an upgrade on both of those players.

He's a month older than VVD, so i suppose the question would be similar to whether you would take VVD (whose also 30 before next season) at a cost of around £40mil + enormous wages?

On the positive side we get a superstar centre back for 3 or 4 seasons (who will decline). Godfrey would probably improve as well through playing alongside him.

Id counter that with Tapsoba at Leverkusen being available for £44mil buyout fee who displays alot of the same characteristics as Koulibaly and is only 22.

There are others like Kounde (Sevilla) who have everything though are a little small at 5'11 (but a Cahill type leap). He'd cost about £50mil, down from £65mil ish City were quoted last summer.

Also Bastoni at Inter who is amazing. Both of those players can play the conservative cover role with Godfrey moving forwards to snap the attacker.

If it was me, id go for the younger options...for the kind of money and where we want to be then we need to go for someone top class who will become world class...not someone on the downward slope.

Bernard, agree to let go but definitely think we could get closer to 10m in a deal with add ons.

Iwobi, let's face it, he won't be going anywhere. Maybe out on loan but unless a good offer of 25-30m comes in the club won't sell esp not for what you've suggested.

Gomes, I'd keep, good squad player and has quality when he turns up or has the right players around him.

I think Delph will stay too, can't see many offers with his injury record and the club probably see him as a useful squad player/ leader.

Kean is nailed on to go think he hates here and his fat agent is seeing dollar signs. Would be happy with 45m to reinvest but will prob be around what we paid plus 5m and add ons maybe.

Kenny is up in the air depending on who Celtic get as their new manager however he's doing well there so should get a move and we could potentially get 5-6m deal there, 2/3m upfront with add ons etc.

Tosun I think will go for a minimal fee, 5/6m top but prob not even.

Probably looking at 55m raised from that bunch which is good imo. I'd like to see us buy one top player with that, another Richarlison type signing.

Have a feeling Iwobi may end up going abroad to a German/Italian type club myself.

Still young and an international player think his agent will do enough bluff to get him a move.

Think if someone offers around £15 million we would cut our losses.

Doesn’t Vasquez only start for RM because of all their injuries?

He’s been a favourite of Zidane even getting game time in big CL games a few seasons ago. Yeah he’s not the worlds best player but I bet he’d look night and day in comparison to Iwobi King Bernard etc if he came here

Quite surprised at this...

Lets say we sign a RB/RWB and/or a RW/RF.

Would you be happy with Coleman/Iwobi/Holgate as rotation RB/RWB and Iwobi/Bernard as rotation RW/RF?

If not then we'll have to sign two new RB/RWB and also two new RW/RF players.

Personally, Id sign a RWB to start and Vasquez as rotation. Then sell Iwobi + Bernard to cover most of the RWB fee. Have Coleman as backup with Holgate returning to centre back.

Use our actual transfer funds on starters. Then over Vasquez's two year deal bring in an u21 RB/RWB to develop.
I would like to see us sell Kenny and Iwobi ( amongst others) and see us buy a top quality specialist RB. I am prepared to see Colenan retained as cover at RB and in emergency as RCB of 3 at the back.
I would like to see us play either 352 or 442( with a diamond).
Both formations require us to sign an athletic right back.
James if fit would play at the tip of the diamond or part of the 5 in midfield so we wouldn't need a like for like replacement of Iwobi.

He also said Lozano was only worth
20mil max after Napoli paid around 40mil for
Him.

But yes I thought he may have bought the odd youngster From Holland. You’d think he would have big knowledge of talented youngsters coming through

That was mad....hes torn up Serie A this season now hes being played regularly in his correct position.

Again would he be more suited to playing Right wing back?

But the fact he'll be 30 at the point we signed him surely counts against him there? We can't fill the first team with 30 year olds, it's not a good plan. The suggestion has been that we're looking at a long term right back like Aarons. If we're looking at a 30 year old on £100k a week instead of finding a long term solution then I think it's a terrible move. If we're looking at both then it seems an extravagance but it depends how much money we have to play with I suppose. Either way, I don't think questioning whether it would be a good signing is particularly weird really. I recall a similar debate about Delph, and we all know how that ended up.

He is very versatile down that right.

18 Starts at right back
11 Starts at right wing
2 at rightmid.

He has only been a sub 3 times for Real madrid all season, started 31 games.

I think many are under-rating him and what he offers.

If a CL team play him this nnay times...maybe, just maybe he is good enough for Everton!?!

That's a fairly extreme viewpoint your taking there. We are not trying to sign Messi level players, why would we be? all i'm saying is i don't think he is much of an upgrade on what we have and that's before you even mention his age. IF like @Zatara suggests and he is coming in to play some sort of rotational role with a younger signing like Aarons then i can see some possible sense to that.

I see both sides, I want both. A right back long term & a right winger, we need both.

Vazquez could also be that right winger, so its 1 player to go into 2 rolls really.

The age thing to a point is an issue. But we need players that have played European football too, experience of top level.

His numbers are impressive, he starts every game for Real Madrid....im sure he would be fine for us.

Mate, he startes every game for Real Madrid. Im sure he is better than Iwobi & Coleman!!!

If we go with Wing backs and sign Aarons and Vasquez its ideal.

If we need RB + RW/RF then we bring in a RB + RW/RF and he can cover both positions.

We can also sell Bernard and Iwobi to put towards the RB fee, possibly £20mil there.

Id go wing backs, punt those 2 for £20mil and spend £30-35mil on a top RB/RWB and bring in Vasquez as well...£10-15mil in outgoing transfer fees and more money in the pot for other positions.

£15mil would be a dream...£5mil for Bernard + £12.5mil for Gomes + £5mil Tosun + £5mil Kenny and were already at £42.5mil....punt Delph as well.

Sell Keane/Mina and you have a sizeable amount to bring in top quality.

100% agree. We'd be able to sign less players and aim for top quality if we played either of those 2 formations.

Coleman for me 3rd choice RWB/RCB for a season.

Maybe. I'm not commenting on him personally because I honestly couldn't tell you much about him. I've seen him and obviously heard the name, but I couldn't say he would or wouldn't be good for us because i've not taken enough notice of him. I'm talking more about the general principle. As already mentioned, the same argument of 'I think someone with x amount of games for them is miles better than anything we've got LOLLLLL rofl hahaha' was made for Delph (and for Gomes, Neville etc etc) but the reality was a bit different. If you want to sign him because you think he's good then great, if you want to sign him because you assume everyone who plays for Real Madrid is automatically boss, then that's a bit different.

He starts every game for Real Madrid, this has to count for something, surely ??!!
Delph never started every game for City, neither Gomes for Barca, or Nev for United.

Vazquez is clearly a better player than what we have, and I like bringing in better players. Thats the top and bottom of it for me mate.

Fair enough. For me it's not just about whether they're better than what we've got, there are plenty of other factors i'd take into account too. As I said, i'm not saying he'd be a bad signing, I have no idea, I just don't think there's any need to be dismissive of people questioning it. There are very good reasons to question it, it's not crazy to think it might not be a wise use of resources.
