Are you a zat multi
Koubailly for 35 m sell Holgate for 20 and you have improved our defence immensely for the next 3 /4 seasons for 15m
No idea of his wage demands though
They wanted £89m last summer. A £55m reduction?

I doubt it is worth it to them to sell him. Why sell for a hugely reduced cost when they will still have to replace him?

He may be very good, but I think the big purchases need to have some chance of sell on value. Hence too old.

I am only saying what the article said
Maybe they realise this is their last chance to get any cash for him
The majority of Italian clubs are cash strapped
They may have a cheap replacement in their set up already or a cheaper alternative lined up
Plus their owner is a headcase so who knows what is going on
15m net for 3-4 seasons for a player of his calibre is good business
He is up there with Ramos ,Dias and St Virgil of the slightly swollen knee in terms of quality and experience

If his fee is £35m.

If...

And wouldn’t he prefer CL?

I understand there is another club in this city that for some reason needs a CB as well.

If the scum do not get CL they will not have a pot to urinate in
After wasting money on Thiago ,Keita and Alice Oxtail Chambermaid I am not sure FSG will let Klipperty spend big without sales this summer
Plus St Virgils swollen knee will be better soon

They also have Manolas at 29 as well.

If they get his big wages off the books and £40mil odd they can get one of the younger CBs we should be after.

Tbh United would be the obvious destination for any top CB. Unless Koulibaly enjoyed his time with Ancelloti that much, I cant see him coming.

If we go for Koulibaly it would surely be to play with Godfrey.

That would mean one of Mina and Keane being sold. He'd be an upgrade on both of those players.

He's a month older than VVD, so i suppose the question would be similar to whether you would take VVD (whose also 30 before next season) at a cost of around £40mil + enormous wages?

On the positive side we get a superstar centre back for 3 or 4 seasons (who will decline). Godfrey would probably improve as well through playing alongside him.

Id counter that with Tapsoba at Leverkusen being available for £44mil buyout fee who displays alot of the same characteristics as Koulibaly and is only 22.

There are others like Kounde (Sevilla) who have everything though are a little small at 5'11 (but a Cahill type leap). He'd cost about £50mil, down from £65mil ish City were quoted last summer.

Also Bastoni at Inter who is amazing. Both of those players can play the conservative cover role with Godfrey moving forwards to snap the attacker.

If it was me, id go for the younger options...for the kind of money and where we want to be then we need to go for someone top class who will become world class...not someone on the downward slope.
We wil not be selling Mina or Keane
They both regularly play as first Choice CBs
Holgate rarely plays there and is limited at RB
Young ,Home Grown versatile ,He is a much more saleable asset

You have one of them as cover for Koulibaly. Holgate as cover for Godfrey.

Holgate rarely plays CB as we have no decent RB. Hes the best RCB in a 3 as well + you need him in the squad as cover at the very least.

Posters seem to be very attached to Mina and Keane...i really rate Mina but we should always be looking to upgrade players.
