I've never even seen an obligation to buy loan "under certain conditions" - you're either obligated or you're not surely?

Absolutely embarrassing. It's clearly based on Juve qualifying for the Champions League; why we've agreed to that is so, so weak that it's scarcely believable.

Brands is a joke.

Locatelli signed under the same kind of thing tbf

The fact that we're in such a bad financial position as Sassuolo, however, is probably the real issue here (and is on Brands).

"We realise that the market arouses curiosity, there is always this final stage where there can be movements. But from what I’ve been hearing from the management, for now, things are very calm. You never know what might happen until the last day.”

I mean that statement really rules nothing out
They are also probably acutely aware that (if reports are accurate) this transfer is predicated on two other things happening - selling Kean and James agreeing to go to Porto. If neither of these things happen, then the deal won't happen. Like the chains when selling houses.

So they are probably telling him that there's nothing to report - yet.

tbf it's probably based on him playing about 20 games. Juve have done the same with Locatelli.

But yes, a cast-iron guarantee would have been much better. Brands just isn't very good at doing a big part of his job.
theyll take a look at him this year, the freeze him out in the second year to avoid triggering a fee if they dont like what they see.

Not being funny but what IS he good at that is part of his job? He was tasked to bring in young players with potential and high sell on value on low fees. He failed at that. He was known for having great contacts in the SA market. Never brought in any of those. He can't sell his own players without taking a bath on them. He gives contracts with extortionate wages so we can't even GIVE players away.

It’s an Italian thing, it’s how Juve got Locatelli. It won’t just be based on performance it’ll be based in the event the player gets a serious injury

Why do we all worry about the financial parts of any deals, surely that's the clubs problem. The only worry we should have is that we have a half decent team after all the deals are completed.

It's not 'an Italian thing' - there's been literally one deal ever with these conditions, and it was a minnow club in the same league.

There should be no condition on that obligation. There's no reason for us to agree to it. If they don't want to sign the player properly, then sod off.

As others said will have stopped us paying a fee for him this season. And then the rest we owe will be stopped now so prob be even for him. Still think he was worth the risk, time for the club to move on to more players to finish the window strong

Lets be real- the 'circumstances' are probably just that he still has two functioning legs by the end of the season.
Which we have no control over. If he goes there and someone in training hits him hard and breaks a leg, Juve now don't have to take it up? It's nonsense that there has to be "certain circumstances".
