One of our issues is when we buy promising youngsters we don give them a chance. They rot in the u23’s and go out on crappy loans, then we offload them when they’re 28 for nothing. We need to be scouting South American leagues like Porto and give these youngsters a chance. And not pay over the odds for average players like we have done over the last few years.

The trouble is getting work permits. Brazilian players can often get Portuguese passports or the right to live there especially. The rules are tighter in the UK

James wages has nothing to do with the Diaz deal. Porto are insisting the two transactions are completely independent of each other. In other words they want to shaft us on the Diaz deal, and then they want to shaft us again on the James deal. It's what Porto do.
