Everton Summer transfers 2021

I really doubt it from what I was told. If he breaks into the Rangers side in front of Tav I'd imagine we'd be priced out the market. But for reasons others have mentioned previously, he'll share the shirt at best. He was raging about not being able to even discuss things with Everton. Apparently it was the only solid bid Rangers received for any player.

What has to change in that scenario is the club relents on its position. They have him under a long contract. Why would they sell in January if they weren't willing to in the window just closed?

Stands to reason. We dont do January windows, and by next summer we'll be able to get an experienced RB in and wont have to take a punt on an unproven kid. Either that or someone will have slotted into the RB berth from within the club.
I dunno

We'll probably have to go for both Patterson and a more experienced full-back (next summer)

Don't get why you're so dead set against it?

I wasn't comfortable with us going above £7m for the lad, like. If he plays more this season though then we'd get to know more.

Given Roberts went to Burnley for £2.5m, we should have been all over that deal.

What has changed is they fully anticipated bids for other players. Enquires made but nothing concrete apart from us. They have run at an operational loss of approximately 15m a season for last 4, for a club with no credit, that's unsustainable. They banked on other offers coming in for others so as not to lose a prized asset who is potentially worth significantly more than we offered. They only succeeded in alienating the player. We'll get him in Jan if the interest is still there. I can assure you if we meet the price he'll come gladly.

Salomon Rondon says hi Joey. The 2 year deal we have just given him, with the option of a further year is almost identical to the one Ancelotti gave James, if the rumours are to be believed he is also on north of 90k per week, the only difference is the fact that one of them is a tremendously gifted player, who was signed by our former manager as a player he had previously employed and rated and the other one is Rondon.

The more things change the more they stay the same. If Rondon doesn’t work out this season or if Benitez gets sacked, we will find it very difficult to move Rondon considering the contract we have given him.

It's a mad contract

I'm sure the club will be briefing it's not actually £90k a week though.

But then when Benitez is gone this time next year and we failed to buy a right-back they'll be saying Rondon is on £100k a week and that's the reason we couldn't get one :)

I was made up that fell through. Gerrard trying to fake us out to spend £10M on that pimply faced no mark. He looks like the offspring of Archie Knox too. It's uncanny.

What is the price they want?

Well I don't know enough about him to judge, but like I said right now I don't think anything about 7/8m for a player of such inexperience is worth it, definitely.

Doesn't excuse us not getting anyone in though. It's atrocious.

Set ourselves up to fall.

That sounds about right. I’d go back again in January. Kid is going to be a good player. Has a few wee issues but that’s down to immaturity which will iron out over time

I'm sure he would. That doesn't mean the ship hasn't sailed from our end though. £8M isn't going to be acceptrd by rangers and Gerard wont sell to Everton. And Eveerton will be in a different place next summer.

Just about everything points away from any such deal.

By the way, why is it only Everton that's shown interest?

I have absolutely no idea why they seem to be valuing him so highly when he cannot get games for Rangers. No way should we be offering £10m for him.
Itls crazy. They obvioulsy failed to register that they weren't dealing with the usual Everton of the last 5 years. Gerrard above all should have recognised we haven't got a pot to piss in and that the £5m bid was about as good as it was going to get.
