Isnt it ironic, dont you think?

I mean I see your point, to a degree form will determine results, but the best team doesnt always win football games and how many times have teams been flying only to lose a game they should have won and then collapse? See Lampards Chelsea for an example.

Football is played on grass and results are ALL that matter.

If we had 3 losses Brands would be getting sieged at finch farm by pitchfork wielding evertonians. Benitez has bailed him out massively but if we start having a few bad results people will be calling from Benitez when really Brands should be the first to go if we have a poor season.

This post makes it sound like we're not even talking about the same thing.

I'm talking about how we should go about determining what is good for the team. How to set up, who to play, who to buy. Results do not matter in this process.

If the manager doesnt think the squad is capable, he can resign anytime he wants.

The summer window was complicated with him being away and also the need for a few moving parts to click into gear to allow the likes of PSG to throw their hat into the ring. It didn't happen, so we were left with a couple of million to spend.

The club is out of the mode it was in a few years ago when well before a transfer window a player would be earmarked for the exit and the manager knew exactly what he had to spend with the fee received. The new regime, drunk on just spending money, haven't had to do the leg work on a strategy like that - they dont know how to - and so it was all left to chance.

Next summer we will have 6/7 out the door and wages freed up + a defo sale of a big name player.

Are you concerned about the finances in general mate and breaching the cost and sustainability rules?

Massive losses we are posting. Take last year we clocked a 139 mill loss, then added Doucoure, Allan, Jamo and Godfrey to the wage bill to be added up this winter. I hung Learner out to dry on here 10 years ago for the same stuff, cant be sustainable. Is this window indictive of the wheels coming of our shiny gold car, will it be a soft or hard landing. We've definitely pulled the handbrake hard.

Yeah I know the narrative being pushed is that Brands has left us short EVERYWHERE, but thats not really true.

We have glaring holes in the squad that a few injuries will expose, but its not as bad as most are making out.
