Everton Summer transfers 2021

That's not the point we're very short in a few positions and haven't addressed these issues having spent virtually nothing when we desperately need these players

I don't see the upside in spending no money and ending up with no RB/LB and RW/LW cover
The upside is that we won't get any fines, point deductions or transfer bans from the Premier League for breaking their FFP/Financial Control regulations.

Has anyone even considered that the manager is happy with his options at right back and preferred to improve the squad in the areas we have?

He said that he had been following Everton and knew what was needed, perhaps he prioritised the areas we have strengthened over right back? After all, he is the manager, he knew what we could and could not spend, he chose to get the roles filled that we did.

Because we pretty much all think that RB is a priority, 3 managers have come and gone that disagreed with that as first choice activity, so perhaps they know something we don't? Like we have adequate cover? Well at least in the opinion of the guys who see the staff and make the decisions?

Not even perhaps?

Notable free agents. Real slim pickings in the free transfer market, better just going with what we've got.

CB: Mustafi (bring a bloo home!), Maicon
RB: Rafael, Aurier
LB: Benito, Taylor
Mid: Ramires, Meyer, Bentaleb
RW: Narsingh, Ibe(!)
LW: Ribery, Kalou
FW: Tevez, dos Santos
CF: Bony, Sanogo, Llorente

Spot on. Probably wouldn’t have been half as disappointing/frustrating if there’d have been abit of communication to supporters and managing of our expectations.
But then perhaps they needed to keep their cards close to their chest for not wanting to give an advantage in negotiations to potential suitors of our players?!
But I suppose we’ll never really know and we’ll have to continue guessing!
They need to do better than this in explaining why a new manager (down a first team player n arrival) is left to get on with spending £1.8M - an outlay bettered by clubs a few divisions below the PL.

Looking at how the transfer window played out mate, I'm getting a bit concerned that we have actually breached the Profit and Sustainability rules. I had a projection that we just snuck in there under, but what we have seen makes me think we got battered by a stick by the PL - we would have been in touch with them in March in regard to projected losses over the three year period. So what we might be seeing is an attempt to look like we are behaving ourselves, in stay of judgement of any sanction the PL might decide to impose. I'm speculating and anaylsing of course, but it might take a rabbit out of the hat - i cant see for us not to be in breach and our behavior indicates we could be.
I think the whole strategy was to see what happened in terms of Richarlison. The summer window was complicated with him being away and also the need for a few moving parts to click into gear to allow the likes of PSG to throw their hat into the ring. It didn't happen, so we were left with a couple of million to spend.

The club is out of the mode it was in a few years ago when well before a transfer window a player would be earmarked for the exit and the manager knew exactly what he had to spend with the fee received. The new regime, drunk on just spending money, haven't had to do the leg work on a strategy like that - they dont know how to - and so it was all left to chance.

Next summer we will have 6/7 out the door and wages freed up + a defo sale of a big name player.

I don't feel like going into a big post about this again but just remember last year when we discussed how performances are a better indicator of future results than results and that's exactly what happened in the second half of the season.
We dont need to make big posts.

Heres a table that the Premier League use, its based on results.

Can you show me the performance league table please? Also, who won the "Played the best" League title last season?

I'm just going to leave it at you don't get it.

The original post was about how we should play. Results don't inform that.

This is funnily enough exactly why Carlo Ancelotti was a terrible manager for us.
