Its a grey area, but yes, Penaldes is a midfielder, an offensive 1, but a midfielder all the same.

Well lets look at the definitions: positioned between the forwards and midfield? Maybe sometimes, but there have been a fair few games where he's the "#10" but further forward than our striker on average.

And then most responsible for scoring goals. When Gylfi isn't scoring goals what was he doing?

The problem is if we stick with DCL next season. Or even 2 more seasons. He would be ancelotti’s number 9 fir the first 3.5 yrs of his 4.5 year contract.

If ancelotti went to Moshiri abs said he thinks DCL & Richarlison arent quite at the level we need every week at the minute. I we need another forward. Maybe who’s more ruthless abs makes better decisions around the box and we go abs spend 50/60 mil and DCL is on the bench next season . What do you think he will do next summer? A transfer request, because he thinks he should be our number 9 full stop. We’ve made a rod for our own back, by being this halfway house team.

Look at Chelsea last season, with a transfer ban they gave Abraham a chance abs he did quite well. I’m sure he got something like 13 goals by Christmas. But as soon as his from dropped a little bit, he was out the team. Then in the summer they spend 60mil on Werner. Abraham hasn’t had a sniff since. I know Werner hadn’t had the greatest first season, but the point is Chelsea knew Abraham wasn’t the answer.

Now I know everyone will say Chelsea are a different level to us abs that’s fine. But why is Moshiri spending big money abs bringing in the likes of ancelotti.

Correct me if Im wrong, but he has scored 19 goals in all domestic comps already. Tap ins still count as goals the last time I checked. Im not averse to selling him, but given he's the same as as Rashford, and scored more none penalty goals than him in the same comps, what value would people have on Rashford?

I'd also say, if Abraham is worth 40m, Calvert Lewin would be worth 140m.

As for a squad player, Im not sure on that. I'm not sure United or Chelsea have a player who can score more none penalty goals than him. He'd score bundles of goals in a better side in my opinion and would probably be at 30+ in either of those teams.

If you watch DCL and think all he does is score tap ins then you're watching the game wrong. The lad is integral to the way we play his ability to win the ball from long ball situations hold it up and lay it off changes the side completely.

I remember everyone saying the same thing about lukaku. "Apart from scoring what else does he do?" "He can't trap a bag of cement" "he's lazy, we could sell him and get two strikers who score 15 goals a season and be better off".

People completely forgetting that getting proven strikers that can score double digits is actually really hard to do and really expensive especially for a team thay hasnt been in europe for 4 years.

There is this notion that if DCL joined a City or Utd he would bang 30 goals a season which for me I cant see whatosever. For one he's a very streaky CF and tends to score 8 in 12 games then go on a period of about 3 in 15 and two he benefitted massively from our earlier systen of James dinking it wide to Digne to cross in first time.

At teams like City who play good football and have tons of creative players he'll get less crosses and be expected to play of the defenders shoulder and be able to slot it past the keeper or take it around them which isnt his game.

Hence why I reckon his / Richarlison's future up front depends on what way/system he wants to go down. If its still get it out wide and cross it in the box then DCL will be staying no1 but if we go to a more counter attacking or playing through the middle side then I think if someone offers big money for DCL the club might accept and rebuild the squad to the way Ancelotti wants to set up.

I agree with what you’re saying about Lukaku and his faults, but the lad was/is lethal in front of goal. DCL will never have that it’s just not in him, he just doesn’t have that killer instinct he’s too nice. If Lukaku was upfront for us this season we’d be top four now. It’s all well and good having a striker who can hold the ball up, but it creates us zero goals, as there’s no one driving forward from midfield . Put the lad one on one with the keeper and it’s at best 50/50 he scores, in reality it’s worse.
if the clubs serious about competing at the top then they will have to find a top slotter, either persuade Lukaku to come back or find a young one.

Most of city's goals come from working the ball into the box, getting it to the byline and cutting it back for a tap In anyway. Which DCL would be ideal for. The lad can score goals and is getting better year on year. If he was at City he would 100% score 20+ goals a season in the league with the chances they create.

Chelsea still need a striker so the Werner comparison doesn't match. What Chelsea bought was basically a Mane-type attacking forward who can't finish - the German Shane Long.

It's easy to say "we need a striker" but it's the hardest position to find. Additionally, when did a 10+ a season striker become an "issue"?

How many strikers do the top 6 clubs have that they spent a fortune on? Not many.

United and Spurs have academy players, Chelsea don't play an out an out striker (ones an academy product), City don't play with a striker for the most part, Leicester have Vardy, West Ham play a winger, Arsenal have 2 past their sell by dates, the RS have an attacking 3 (their only striker is Origi).

You sell DCL you lose 20 goals from this season that you need to replace. Good luck with that.
