For sure, but getting midtable would be one hell of an achievement. Major job on there. I saw Lampard linked. Massive career risk if he took that on
I don’t see that. No expectation for him to win anything & if relegated “they were a shambles when he got there”

He will spend the minimum he feels we need to avoid the drop. Nothing more. That might be anything between £25m - £50m depending if any of the out of contract players we want to keep, stay.
All the dough is going into the academy. Our U23’s have been promoted to the top PL Division for next season. Youth is the future.

For Palace, sitting bang in the middle of a fantastic source of yoof ballers, makes total sense.

Wouldnt mind us putting a bid in for zah 25-30 could cover cf and out wide and also go in for another winger bailey ect be plenty of attacking cover then

I actually prefer Webster.

Bit too short I'm afraid.

Weren't Leeds quoted like 35m last summer?

I actually prefer Webster.

Think they asked Leeds for £35mil.

I paid a little bit of attention to him this season but not really an avid watcher of brighton and if i turned on then it was to see Lamptey charging down the right.

Just thought that hes a player who did well for Leeds, well for Brighton...can play different positions and is at a club who could perhaps do with the money.

No recollection of Webster at all @catcherintherye . Do you think White would be a decent signing for us at £35mil and if he did sign would he be a CB / DM or something else?

White would cost more than £35m mate.

And he's decent, good prospect, but not a centre-back that would take us to the next level.

Id swerve myself, likes the Brighton nightlife a bit too much

Christ almighty why would we go back for Zaha? Look at the reports today, we're back in for Zaha for the third year in a row who's off the back of another average season. Arsenal and Villa are in for Buendia, a younger, better and cheaper player. I think Brands has done an alright job but my god he has a real issue of not being able to move on from targets that rejected us. Needed a CB when Zouma ended his loan, spent all summer after him and didn't get anyone and suffered, needed a winger the last 2 years, chased Zaha for stupid money and still didn't get him and ended up with Iwobi who has 1 goal with us. Make a list if 1 rejects go to number 2, if 2 rejects go to 3 etc.

Also quite frankly Zaha coming to us now would be mad for him and us. For him he'd be coming to a club in shambles needing a massive rebuild for any hint of success and why leave Palace who seem comfortable and he'd be a legend. For us he'd become probably our top earner and still take a massive fee despite being totally average and 29 in November on probably a 4 year deal. What a nonsense piece of business that'd be.

I don't think we were in for him last year - as much as I wanted us to be - and I don't think we will be now.

He hasn't had another bang average season though. He's scored 10 goals and been pretty excellent. He's had one poor season in the last five years and that was 2019-20.

I'm not advocating we go get him. The ship's sailed and the price is too much for a 28-year-old.

But this mad idea people have that he's not quality is nonsense considering our current options are Bernard, Iwobi, a half-fit James and Gordon who can't get a game at Preston. Oh, and Coleman.
