Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Interesting to see just how highly rated Hart is with City fans, although I guess it wouldn't be the first time that football fans on a message board grossly overrate their own players ;), but reading their opinions convinces me that he is top quality.

I'm not worried about losing Lukaku and Stones, in fact my hope is that we leverage them for all they are worth. It seems that Stones in particular may have a few massive clubs after his signature, including City and United. We should play them off against each other to ensure we get the best deal possible.

Reading the City forum, it seems that they that they would in no way consider swapping Hart and Bony for Stones, that's alright then, we'll just sell him to United instead lol .

How much do people think we will have to spend?
Moshiri was quoted as saying he would put £100m into transfers and with Lukaku and Stones possibly going (combined £80-100m)
does that really mean we will have approximately £200m to spend or should we expect to spend less?
Just interested on your thoughts.

He's a fantastic keeper but 40m is a lot of money.

The issue is with a new shareholder etc who by all accounts is going to bankroll us big time, we are going to have to be prepared to overpay quite substantially for a few years. Adding into the mix the new PL deal and clubs are going to be fleecing us if we want top talent. Not only that but with no European football, money unfortunately is what's going to entice people to do business with us. If that's what we have to pay to get top,top talent (and Joe Hart really is) then so be it for awhile. Gone are the days when we had to be tighter than a ducks ass when it came to transfers. Embrace the Moshiri Everton and roll with us spending a fair few quid in the transfer market.

He probably has nearly 10 years left at the top level. A keeper like that will be worth 15 points a year.

That's Europe this year!
10 years? I don't know about that. It's a lot of money but if we have even more than reported then as others have said it could be our Robinho signing that puts us on the map and attracts others. However if it's 40m of our 100m budget then I think we would be wise looking somewhere else.

There's no doubt. Hart is up there with De Gea and Neuer. His champions league performances against the very best prove that.

We wont spend 200m.

We wont sign many elite players, not yet, signing elite players means paying elite wages, when you pay elite wages you have to bump the wages of the entire squad.

Interestingly Arsenal only have 3-4 players above 100k a week, which I found quite strange.

Always thought Arsenal paid the big wages.

Quite the opposite. Arsenal don't pay big wages and rarely spend big on players, despite their revenue, compared to Chelsea, City and utd.

Their wage bill is massive tho.

Wow that has surprised me. Normally arsenal fans are either moaning about wenger, or their lack of spending and paying top players top wages. Well according to those figures they can't be moaning about wages.

I mean I read this.

Only a handful of players earn £100,000-per-week or more at the club including Petr Cech, Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.
It is understood that his deal will be worth £110,000-per-week and will run until the end of the 2020-21 season.

Which did surprise me like.

He's a champions league level keeper, easily, and the best keeper this country has produced in at least a decade. We'd see a massive difference compared to what we already have.

Butland would be about £25m currently and he is massively better than him.
Butland is a very talented keeper, with the potential to be a great keeper. Hart is the finished article and at present is the better keeper, you only have to look at his performances in the champions league. Be interesting to run a poll who would the supporters prefer: hart at 40m or butland at 25m. What cannot be argued, we haven't had a top class keeper since Martyn (even though he was in the twilight of his career). It clearly shows the intent of Moshiri with a potential signing of this magnitude, in a key position we have been lacking in for years.

Exactly you have to make a statement, this is a massive statement saying take us seriously.
