Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Rumours of wholesale changes are probably true, but we are unlikely to lose anybody we would miss and those we will miss, we will be given vast sums to replace.

Martinez made some astute signings, but he also signed some utter stinkers, some of which will continue to litter the squad next season unless we can ship them out.

Im pretty sure the new manager will be given the cash to move us forward, im pretty sure there isnt a set amount set in stone, just like im pretty sure we are unlikely to spend 40m on a GK.

I will be very surprised if we break our transfer record this season, but I fully expect us to spend upwards of 100m, thats if we lose Lukaku and Stones, as I say, if those 2 go for the sums rumoured it will be some summer.
So you only expect us to spend 100m if we sell Lukaku and Stones or I'm I reading that wrong?

i reckon we will probably spend similar to what city spent when they first got taken over

they wont be elite world class players but they should hopefully be decent

for ease of reference this is what city did

robinho - 32.5 mil
jo - 18 mil
de jong - 13.5 mil
bellamy - 11.63 mil
bridge - 9.75 mil
wright phillips - 8.44 mil
given - 6.75 mil
zabaleta - 6.53 mil
kompany - 6.38 mil
ben haim - 4.8 mil

total spend - 118 mil or thereabouts

+ 8 years worth of inflation in prices and the sales of stones and lukaku + others

spend - 200 mil

income from sales - 100 mil

total net spend - £100 mil

makes sense

Jo, Kompany and Zabaleta all arrived just before the takeover. I don't know whether it's a rumour or not, but I've heard the price for Jo was vastly inflated during media reports and Thaksin was happy to go along with this because it gave the illusion he was actually spending money.
We did overpay for a lot of players though and we did overpay on wages. It was necessary at the time to bring players in who could take us to the next level.

There will be a decent budget for the new Manager that im sure of, obviously though, that will increase immensely when Rom is flogged for £60m and all that.

My thoughts too.

Rom is gone, the only question is to where and for how much.

I'd imagine (this is conjecture like but based in common sense and an overall 'investment' of £100mil in the club as a whole by Moshiri, that we may have a budget of circa £30mil without sales. That will then, like you said, be boosted by the sale of Rom and possibly Stones. Those two are the only ones I see going who we would miss.

But we definitely aren't going to be having a £100mil budget. The main factor in drawing a new manager will be the fact that we can say to him whatever money that the player sales fetch, he will get all of to re-invest back in the squad - and it won't go missing paying other operating costs...

We definitely won't be spending £100mil without the sale of at least one of them, IMO
Then Moshiri is effective putting in zero of his own money because we are getting an extra 50m from the TV money and one of them will cost 50m. I don't know. You may be right because until Moshiri starts spending for me the jury is out. At the end of the day we aren't privy to his plans.

If he uses his financial position to secure us the money to build a stadium I'll be satisfied. We would still be in a better position than with Kenwright.

Sorry but if we had a budget greater than £30m two summers ago why would we only have £30m this year with a rich owner and new TV money????
It doesn't add up does it. We were operating at break even before. Now like everyone else we have an extra 50m extra in TV money. Even with a net spend of 100m this year that's still only an extra 50m from Moshiri. We're hardly Man City especially when you consider how much money City, Utd and probably even Arsenal and Chelsea are going to spend this summer.

We just have to wait and see. Everything else is speculation.

Moshiri has invested/will invest an assumed £100mil in the club, but that isn't just transfers. As you said there is other areas to focus on.

One will most likely be using the TV money to pay off the remaining debt, as it now doesn't have to be used to solely fund transfers. Then I imagine some will be used to improve Finch Farm and then yes, look at the ground.

So I'd say a smart estimate is we'll go into the window as it is now with a very decent budget, but not close to £100mil.

That budget was a direct result of selling Fellaini, Anichebe and Jelavic for a combined £40mil.

So, our budget heading into this window probably will be more towards the £50mil mark, rather than £30mil, which is a bit low I suppose.

I'd have James Wilson on loan next season if Man United are agreeable to it

Think we can do better mate.

If Rom goes, we need two proven goalscorers in.

Wilson kind of reminds me of Bamford, and just isn't cut-out to be a consistent starter/challenge to be that in a tame that wants to be in the top half of the Prem yet.
