The absolute last thing we need, imo, is a so called "statement signing".

Our core squad, plus the potential we all saw in the last game, is not bad. It has been mucked about with, but that is easy to fix. Christ, Unsworth did in a week. Norwich notwithstanding, granted.

Now dont ask me who we should sign in the areas that we are light, cos I do not have a clue. But we certainly dont need, or want, a Zlat or a Rooney, for examples, to win the willy contest.

You do realise we need more than statement signings ? We will get at least 2 'statement' signings but the squad needs depth and quality badly .

I agree that we don't need a "name" just for the sake of it but we should be going for the absolute best players that we can get in the areas we need to improve. I'd have Mata and that would be a massive statement and a huge improvement.

Yes, of course. Just dont think lobbing a wedge of cash at a name just to make a point is that good an idea.
