At the reported €10m he would certainly be worth the risk. Of course it's a huge step up to the Premiership, but uptil now he hasn't been fazed by the step ups in his career. But hey, I'm sure you know Dutch football much better than me, as it has been over a year I watched anything from the Eredivisie. Be it highlights or full matches.
He's been very good for AZ, I watch them more than any other team aside from Ajax probably. There's just always that caveat about prolific goalscorers in the Eredivisie, especially if they aren't blessed with extraordinary physical gifts. At 10 million i deffo think he'd be worth a punt.

Definitely modern day football as many managers and former players bemoan a lack of actual full-backs in world football these days. Distin Jags worked because Distin was lightning and Jags was fast. I'm not saying we don't need a Dann like CB but we need a modernised version who's more of an athlete.

Not so sure I agree with you there mate, clearly the full back position has become more broad in the last fifteen years, I think without an attacking Arsenal these days you don't progress never mind play as a full back. Dann was one of the highest scoring defenders in the league this year he's no slouch. Regardless your hitting the calamity button, when there is no need, take the last two title winners they had centre back partnerships of Cahill and Terry and Huth and Morgan, who are certainly all less speedy then Dann, elsewise I don't think it's as essential as you seem to and clearly those players have proven it.

Stones and Mori cover the athletic element for me and to be honest I think Galloway will end up as a centre half, we have loads of finesse and atlethism what we lack is organisation, leadership and steel.

When I hear your description I can't help thinking of the likes of Otamendi, Mangala, Sako and various other modern day centre back who cost a fortune but are essentially gash.

Yeh but you're proving my point for me: Terry/Cahill and Morgan/Huth are a partnership of slow proper defenders (albeit Terry is a good passer) and I said earlier Dann thrives in these partnerships like with Delaney. Sticking him next to a Stones or a Mori is a completely different prospect. Leicester were so good last season because their back 4 were all defenders and defended as a priority whereas only Jags does that in our team.

Probably gonna be linked with half the Southampton team now. I reckon Steve Davis would do well in our midfield. Always rated him, he would be a good addition to our squad.

Our squad dosent need depth. We have 29 players over 21 at the moment. Far to many, we need to start binning a few off n use the kids as suad fillers
Osman , hibbert, pienaar , Howard all leaving . Plus a few other likely departures. I disagree with you .

You do realise we need more than statement signings ? We will get at least 2 'statement' signings but the squad needs depth and quality badly .

We have Stones, Funes Mori, Jagielka, Browning & Galloway for CB

Why would we spend £15-20m+ on Scott Dann for him to sit on the bench????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

jagielka is getting on , stones might leave. Mori might even leave . I don't think browning is that good IMO .

Also I'm not fussed if we sign Dann. But people need to realise we do need that type of player in the squad . It can't all be young untried foreigners . Look at city after their takeover . They signed good solid pro's like Barry, Milner And Bellamy . Every squad needs those type of player .
