What would a transfer window be without us buying a young goalkeeper?

Renshaw in line for top-flight transfer
Reporter: Matthew Chambers
Date online: 08 June 2016

ATHLETIC'S exodus is set to continue, with young goalkeeper Chris Renshaw primed for a move to Everton.

The highly rated 18-year-old has attracted significant interest from the Premier League club and talks will take place over a transfer.

In return, Athletic could negotiate to bring in young players on loan from Goodison Park for next season.

Salford-born Renshaw has been with Athletic since the age of 11 and impressed enough as a scholar to be offered a professional deal by the club for next season.

However, he is now likely to join fellow shot-stopper Joel Coleman - who completed his move to Huddersfield Town yesterday for an undisclosed fee - out of the door at SportsDirect.com Park.

That would leave Athletic with no goalkeeping coach, after Anthony White took up a position at Bournemouth, and no senior goalkeepers.

As it stands, the club are now down to six contracted players for next season: Liam Kelly, Rhys Murphy, Jake Cassidy, George Edmundson, Danny Byrnes and Connor Brown, with the latter also appearing to be on his way out.

Whatever happened to signatures on this forum? I used to love reading whoever it was that would do the list of targets linked with so far ...

Ziyech Strootman Arnatuovic Milik all sound good to me

at least they're not villa

Personally i'd bin barkley off, we don't need a ' stevie g' eg local lad who is average and loved for passion......

we need winners not someone walking round the pitch over weight. id sell barkley asap because he has 2 more years of development and get someone who does not give ball away every time

I have a strong feeling Koeman is going to turn McCarthy and Barkley into serious central midfield generals.
That's why we are getting linked with centre Midfielders.
If we do spend big money on one then that will be 7(including Tom Davies) for 2 positions.
One or maybe two will be gone, one won't be Gibson. So the leaves McCarthy, besic, cleverly and Barry.

Never been a fan of McCarthy, and imho he will be gone over the next 12 months

Mcarthy has 6 years of martinez sure the a good player in him time will tell was poor this year. problem was bobby liked to play 2cdm on possession football and left him just running around like an idiot we need cm not cdms unless some are binned

Barkley should not be cam i think lacks creativity to be a playmaker and control the game, should be moved to the left or dropped deeper imo
Give him a preseason and a chance after a horror show of the end of a season (like quite a few others) and maybe then think about moving him round. Playmaker in front of him would be interesting.

So mccarthy will improve but barkley wont?

RE barkley may i remind you cahill scored 10 goals a year.. barkley has not impressed me with his attitude walks around the pitch overweight lazy gives ball away too much, would rather have someone peeking than developing

heres an example i like to use would you rather have peaking payet playing every week or ross giving ball away.. money is no object now id rather have someone older who can win game then seeing everton as a feeder club for man city or chelsea...
