Everton Transfer Thread 2016

I happen to have seen a lot of him mate. With Redmond he was easily Norwich's best player last season, but he's definitely not good enough for where we want to be.

FGS, we've got people saying Mata and Sneijder aren't good enough, and that we should be binning a proven quality player (when he's given a specific role) in the form of McCarthy.

I think your post gave the impression you didn't rate Hoolahan at all, sorry.

People are losing it regarding not wanting Mata and Sneijder.

Unless Sneijder's lost his legs he'd be a quality signing. He's a world class player and Barkley, Del etc and any other young players would learn so much through training and playing alongside him.

Mata is a really good player who's been getting played in systems that don't suit him recently. He'd be a great signing if we can pull it off.

People have been slating Nani too, despite the fact he'd improve us. I guess some people won't be happy unless we sign Ronaldo or Messi.

I'm honestly struggling to understand the love in for Sneijder.
There's no point in bringing in a name if they can't effectively contribute, no point in bringing a "name" in to be a name.
Especially now when we can afford quality players who also have name recognition.
Does Samuel Eto'o ring a bell.
Our focus must be to bring in quality players who will improve our first team.
Sneijder doesn't do that, while he was world class he isn't that anymore.
Only 5 goals and 7 assists in 25 appearances in a crap league and he's not going to get any better or younger.

Fair play to him.

However, he's 34 and is perfect for West Brom, middle of the pack.

Not the sort of player you sign when you're aiming top 6, top 4.

Spot on If Wes was 24 id be all over him, he's decent however the problem is we need to get out the mind set the people like Hoolahan is good enough for Everton, should be aiming much higher and with no doubt Koeman/ Moshiri will be.

To be fair Eto'o was a good signing, used wrongly massively by Martinez.

I remember Burnley away, me and the random guy next to me spent the whole 90 minutes in awe of his clearly higher level than anyone else on the field.

Still think it's a bit surreal that I've seen Samuel Eto score several goals for Everton. Lukaku could have learned so much about controlling the ball from Eto.

THIS. Need to aim higher and not be an retirement home for past it players who couldn't shine in Turkey

Yeah no doubt, ego issue notwithstanding. I guess what I'm saying is we can afford to look higher, for players that are at the peak or nearing their peak and have name recognition, there isn't a need to bring in a name for name recognition sake when we can do that and bring in a player that will contribute far more over a longer period of time.

Eto was out the door because he called out Martinez for what he was....
