He was also out the door of Sampdoria after 6 months, so the coin has two sides.

Yeah no doubt, ego issue notwithstanding. I guess what I'm saying is we can afford to look higher, for players that are at the peak or nearing their peak and have name recognition, there isn't a need to bring in a name for name recognition sake when we can do that and bring in a player that will contribute far more over a longer period of time.

I was using Eto'o as an example, I don't like signing players 30+ just because you are looking at sale value and a limited time span. HOWEVER, if they are good enough and relatively cheap (Sneijder would cost £6m apparently), then I wouldn't be fully against it.

Not saying Sneijder is good enough, we'd only truly know if we did sign him, but sometimes it can be worth getting that recognition player for relatively cheap for several reasons. Thinkof it this way, what would have been the better option of the bench this season, Osman or Sneijder? I tihnk we will be signing much more ambitious players, but even the top sides sign a 30/31 year old every nowe and then for experience and for options.. (United, Schweinsteiger for example)

Eto'o didnt half give us a profile boost globally as well.

I think its the fact he's had trouble at Sampdoria and then Antalyspor too though.

Probably 60- 80 Mil, and 250k a week wages, Echo are clueless, laughable that people get paid to write such Dross.

He's on £120K a week at Real Madrid and is current transfer value is ~£50 million...Peanuts to us, sign him up Moshiri!

The two things don't have to be exclusive. Eto'o has been at 12 clubs in 19 years, and 5 between 2013 and 2015 (Anzhi/Chelsea/Everton/Sampdoria/Antalyspor) Something a bit amiss there.
