No way we will pay £20m for a 30 year old, with a year left on his contract. He's a good striker, who I would like at Everton but thats a deal to put us off.

I think in the bigger picture of things if we want to sign all these boss players, then we have to either be signing defects or spending a fortune both in wages and transfer fees to get them here.

Like mata, being cast off by the same manager again. Great for us but would we really be signing Mata if Jose actually valued him? Point is, it is taking advantage to get a player for less than we normally would have to pay for that level of player is quite a good strategy compared to simply following suit to others in the league throwing money about.

Just keep an eye on the top clubs and go after their soon to be fringe players rather than just overpay too much by chasing one that isn't necessarily surplus just yet. For example, Real madrid need to sell players soon once they have to recruit a load (before their ban), so that should free up one or two that may improve us for less than they would cost now.
