Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Can't understand why an announcement is expected today with the manager, staff, team and even the under 21's out of the country. Where would this announcement take place and by whom would it be given?
The massacre in France surely just reinforces that it can't be today. A leak in the Telegraph shows there's been encouraging movement on the DOF front and hopefully next week will bring concrete movement regarding signings. More patience required.
It looks like we aren't doing much because we are waiting for the DOF to be appointed and we still think we are getting this Monchi fella.

We could end up leaving it too late.

There's a reason that we put our Season tickets out earlier than nearly every other PL club. Its because historically we don't do much exciting business in the summer to enable people to get excited about coming to the old lady every week to see. We strike whilst the iron is hot and excitement is fever pitch.

IIRC the earliest we ever had them out is the last time we finished 5th and were in the CL race until quite late in the season.

Our summer transfer windows have ranged from decent to great in the last 5 years... we haven't had a bad one since 2011 with the straq.

I just want the programme on the first day of the season to be like the 88/89 one. All the new signings lined up, I ripped it off and pinned it up on my bedroom wall. Stayed there until I realised that Neil McDonald was dire (Approx October).

If you're buying an ST because you expect to see 'BIG' signings then you need to have a big think & a biscuit.

And as for '...it's dishonest of the club if that doesn't happen' ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Mate.....what does that actually mean?
It means it was all over the media that we would be spending a net 100m and that Moshiri has huge plans for the club. If you buy something that has been advertised wrongly you would be rightly pissed of.

You may take the view that you support the club come what may and that's admirable and I'm sure you buy your season ticket every year no matter what but it's clear not everyone thinks the same.

Mata isn't coming mate. Get used to the idea :)
Whilst I am certainly one of those 'believe it when I see it' types, I really cant understand why you are so sure. Despite your 'sourced' information, we may indeed sign him.
Let's be honest, none of us know of the ins and outs of any ongoing deals from a minute by minute perspective.
I'd love us to sign him, a real playmaker in his prime. Should we keep Lukaku, with Deulofeu on the right hand side, we will be a real attacking force next season.
Need a CB, CM and GK still, though!

It may look like that but that isn't true at all.

Plenty of irons in the fire as Koeman already has his own list of targets.

The DOF would come in to help build a culture between the youth teams and first team, giving the club an identity. Having a DOF in place helps aid the transition between managers. If you know what style of play you're using, you can narrow down your managerial targets. It's a misconception over here that they buy the players. Spurs did it completely wrong, so do Liverpool. In many cases, specifically in Holland, they do the negotiations while the manager finds the targets.

It means that the manager is focused on coaching and building relationships with players and not having those relationships broken into pieces when a contract negotiation comes up.

I didn't say that retrospectively they weren't good. I said they weren't exciting. With the exception of Lukaku signing permanently (after a full season of RS "yeah but when you send him back what are you gonna do??") there haven't been many which have captured the imagination to the point of someone thinking "You know what, I'm going to go down to the ticket office and get one"

Stop kek-wetting over transfers, you lovely people, embrace the silence....it's good & it's professional. Enjoy it.

Then imagine the surprise and the joy and the elation when the whispers/not yet even whispers start to come off...it'll be ace.

;)
