The reason they wanted to keep him was to make sure they got past the stage of the CL they were currently at. Because it was worth a lot of money to the club!

Whereas now.. each stage is only worth a little bit more and they are unlikely to go further anyway.

Now is when they would let him go if any time.

I was a keen reader of you ITK updates, genuinely, but I thought (and I might have remembered this wrong) that the chairman wanted him to stay for the rest of the CL campaign? With them now through to the next round and the games being post-Jan 31st doesnt that mean it'll be summer?

If it gets to that I just see a bidding war and one that we won't be able to compete with.

Would LOVE to be wrong though as I think he's boss, even if I am unsure where he is going to play

I think the situation described to me if they got out of their group, (which he didnt think they would, ironically) was that a pre summer agreement could be signed in Jan. But he was less certain on that, more his take on it, rather than deffo info. Perhaps Kiev have had this scenario with other players in the past; everything CL dependant. Dunno though.

And the paperwork and boring stuff is still in a drawer at GP.

bob got deulofeu and lukaku spot on, but then messed up on mcgeady..so errr

yeah

The record of players from that region is disgustingly bad.

Also he aint even all that, sure he ripped us a new 1, but so have many rubbish players over the years, havent seen him do a thing since that game and ive watched him a few times.

Basically hes just a ukraine McGeady and we can do so much better, also his Agent has the worst bowlhead ive ever seen.

Thankfully none of it even matters, cos we wont be signing him.

Ah fair play.
Well here's hoping! *crosses fingers*

I dont want him, hes a massive risk.

Honestly Goat i don't think it is a a big risk with him, the guy hasn't been just good or promising for a season or two in that league or in the Uefa cup he has been absolutely dominating the competition in there for the past 4-5 seasons now, and he performs well for the National team consistently, think the fact he isn't a kid will mean he settles better as well, stable family man with his own bin lids and knows what move he wants and hasn't just jumped at the first chance.

McGeady had not set the world alight in a league that players with real talent shine in though mate, Yarmolenko has done so consistently

Wrong. 100% wrong.

The CL thing was to minimise the chances of Kiev being shown up around Europe. Nowt to do with the value of the player.

It was all about Status mate IMO, the current climate in the Ukraine they are wanting to appear strong rather than insignificant and that goes through all walks of life currently, hence they wanted to not be shown up and they want the transfer to be one that makes them look a big club when they do sell - hence the owner going on about the profile of the league he should be sold to and them wanting a large fee etc

Yep, thats what I was told. In fact, he got quite annoyed when I said it was all to do with money! Asked me to edit a few posts.

It really isn't though is it?

Kaladze & Shevchenko at Milan, Kanchelskis at United and us, Konoplynka at Seville, Tymoschuk & Costa at Bayern, Mkhitaryan at Dortmund, Willian at Chelsea, just off the top of my head are all players who basically earned there reputations in the Ukrainian league before moving on - and all of those would be deemed as very good successes.

Comparing him with McGeady though is amusing mate, it's like comparing Kone to Lukaku
