Have to disagree with that squad assessment. Our squad in not well balanced overall and we have issues that we need to address.

We do not have a 'no-brainer' first choice keeper.
We do not have a single physically imposing CB. We have a group of similar 'finesse' players.
We do not have one central midfield player who would start at a top 6 club.
We have one true striker.

Yes, we have quality in Ross, Deulofeu, Mirallas. Yes, we have promising youngsters. Yes we have a dozen or so veterans who can "do a job" but the spine of the team simply is not strong enough to compete at the level we as fans, and as a club, should aspire to be at.

None of this means we should panic. This is a transition season. We will see where we are at the end of the window. We probably have to accept a bumpy first half to the season as new manager and, we hope, players bed in.

We really do need to improve the squad. We will. Better to be patient, picky, even over-ambitious than just throw cash around like our cousins over the park every summer.

You referenced Gareth Barry, saying that his legs had gone. This was the popular opinion before the start of last season, an opinion he firmly put to bed.

I'm not talking about Distin.
But my point is generally about Distin that he was perfectly fine when we finished one season and by the next one he had gone. No sign he was finished, hadn't lost much pace or stamina, still defending pretty well. There were no warning signs with him, it was just one season too many as a first choice player.

Says on BBC that Guardiola has banned overweight players from training.

No thank you Man City, keep your lard arses to yourselves.

Hope it's Bony!

If what Esk is saying is true (I genuinely hope and believe it is), we'll definitely see one our current midfielder go and I think it might be McCarthy. Don't think he'd accept to not be in starting eleven. Just my opinion.

I think it may be a case of McCarthy being able to realistically bring in the biggest fee.

I like Jimmy Mac though and would rather he stayed, as I think he'd be key in the pressing game that RK wants to employ.

At the end of the day, right now Everton is a closed shop. Moshiri has everything on lockdown, there's been no official comment from the club whether we will spend nothing or everything. Both ends of the spectrum is drastic speculation.

Nobody knows anything that's going on, the information isn't there. Hence why the ITK crowd have been consistently wrong. People who used to have reliable sources don't anymore because nothing is leaked from the top. I wouldn't take a blind bit of notice of what anyone is saying on any anonymous forum or what the click-happy media are reporting.

From now on we're a professional outfit and when things happen they will happen.

Enjoy the rest of the transfer window.

Aye but agents aren't.

Plus Distin had pace - and when it went his lack of positional sense was very exposed. Barry has never had pace so that isn't as much of a worry.

I think he can definitely be of use and wouldn't want us to be actively looking to let him go, though if a good offer came in that suited all parties it may well be the case.
