Everton Transfer Thread 2016

The week leading up to the first game doesn't usually see a lot of activity for most clubs.

Excluding weekends, we will probably have to do most of the business that we are are going to get done before kick-off in the next 3 days this week and from Monday-Friday next week, which is 8 working days including today.

Of course that doesn't preclude signings happening outside of this, but it does emphasise that the time we have left available is constricted.

It may be just me, but I'm just getting a sense now that we may add a signing or two like Gueye in the coming week and take our chances with the bigger targets becoming available after kick-off.

it doesn't need an overhaul at all.

We've already overhauled what needed changing and that was the managerial staff and running of the club.

The squad needs some quality additions and to get rid of some of the deadwood.

You can't completely change a squad in one window and expect success. As Spurs and Liverpool have found out in recent years, it doesn't work at this level.
We have a lot of overrated players, our centre midfield is literally awful

It isn't awful is it though. There's a lot of players there that aren't/weren't playing as they should, and yes we need a few players in there (Carvalho and Witsel would be superb signings) to add quality and competition.

I reckon Gibson cpuld still be sold, and possibly one of Clevs/Barry/McCarthy

Gibson just signed a new contract he isn't going anywhere, if we wanted rid then we would have let him go ala osman etc.

Clevs is abysmal, Mccarthy not much better imo! Not good enough compared to other centre midfielders of the premier league.

Barry is boss however, and Besic. But even then they need improving upon if we really want to do anything.

It is just the same thing on a weekly basis. We are signing witsel mata cavalio or sky sources player. Then it doesn't happen, then everyone fumes for a week, then by the next week we are signing the same players again.
