It's now got to the point where I would be incredibly shocked if we signed a player before the first game of the season

I just do not agree with that.Gibson just signed a new contract he isn't going anywhere, if we wanted rid then we would have let him go ala osman etc.
Clevs is abysmal, Mccarthy not much better imo! Not good enough compared to other centre midfielders of the premier league.
Barry is boss however, and Besic. But even then they need improving upon if we really want to do anything.
oh give it a rest Bob. Where's the evidence we aren't working on the deals? A lot of info from 'proven' sources seems to be pointing to the fact that we are...

What an utter load of tosh.
Except that's not evidence we're not working on deals, is it? That's evidence of the lack of completed deals. The evidence is, wait for it, we've signed no one except a keeper from Fulham despite the window being open for a while.
People must think you just ring a club say you want a player and will pay X amount, club says ok thats fine, you then call agent and say we will pay a certain wage and its done,
Theres a lot more to it than that, clubs and players can ask for all kinds of add ons, anybody who thinks deals are done in a matter of days is wrong

You honestly really think that's how it worked? Surely people aren't that nieve to think a bid was made the day before the actual transfer, surely? It's happened a few times like that already this summer tbh. The rs signed Wijnaldum after making a bid literally the day before
