Everton Transfer Thread 2016

People really need to stop panicking about every rumour in the paper regarding players coming, going, offers, interest, demands etc. Every single one of us knows that the majority of these stories are just made up by agents and papers, and they are usually complete nonsense.

In saying that, it doesn't look good that we haven't managed to get a deal over the line yet. Hopefully we'll be delighted with our new signings this time next week.

Of all the players who have moved this summer is there anyone we'd have been realistically able to get and wanted?

Kante, Gundogan, Ibrahimovic, Xhaka were unrealistic.

Allen, Mane, wijnaldum, Janssen were overpriced.

Wanyama, who went to join his old manager, is pretty much the only one who was realistic and a big enough improvement to justify the fee.

The transfer window does not shut until the end of August but Blues No.2 Erwin suggests the club will step up their efforts to sign players this week.

“Ronald and the chairman are very busy with that,” he said.

Deary me....I thought we had got rid of this fella,

yeh Bill salavating in front of witsel chanting champions league - mystery solved

I fail to see where £10million on a 32 year old can possibly be seen as 'good value'?

It's atrocious value
You made a statement to the effect that spending £10m on any 32 yo footballer is poor value. I tried to explain that it isn't always black and white and that there can be exceptions whereby the end justifies the means. You don't agree but hey, the polarisation on this site is what makes it so enjoyable.

I would ask you one question though, on the assumption that you agree that we desperately need a defensive lynchpin and leader on the pitch. Who would you go for that could come in and immediately fill both needs?

How much is the price per league position? 1m a place isn't it? So if signing Williams gets us up 4 places in the league for the next 2 season he will be good value.... I think 10m for a proven cb that is solid is good value... Even if we only get 3 good seasons out of him

Let me point to the big flaw in your post.

The word:

ASSUMPTION

Not sure Goat has played in many semi finals of major international tournaments mate.

Depends on what time of day it is. If its after lunch there is not much Goat claims to not of done.

Still.

£10 million for a 32 year old is absolute downright insanity.
