Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Plus Rome wasnt built in a day.

Rome wasn't built in a day.

I keep reminding myself that Rome wasn't built in a day.

The Old adage of Rome wasn't built in a day is a cliché that thrown around but it is very important here.

Rome wasn't built in a day,

" Rome wasn't built in a day "

Rome wasn't built in a day,

Utter tosh. It's plain panic, some of us on here are more realistic and realise Rome wasn't built in a day :coffee:

Good to see we're all well aware that it took an entire summer transfer window to build Rome.

No one is asking for Rome to be built in a day - what we're asking for is signs the construction team is making a start!

People keep moving the goalposts for Moshiri, just as they did to excuse Martinez.

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the target for squad strengthening to bring in players by the time the window closes? No? :coffee:

This would be a dream come true!!!...

Slaven Bilic's search for strikers is getting somewhat desperate so could an Everton outcast help solve the problem?

West Ham United have been linked with a host of top strikers this summer but have already missed out on Dutch star Vincent Janssen after he opted to join Spurs, as well as Lyon's Alexandre Lacazette despite having a record £31 million bid accepted.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic also failed with a bid to lure Belgian star Michy Batshuayi who instead joined London rivals Chelsea.

Meanwhile, a rumoured move for Liverpool's Christian Benteke and talk of bids for Juventus duo Simone Zaza and Mario Mandzukic have gone quiet.

Bacca-up plan?
Since then West Ham have turned their attentions to AC Milan's Colombian star striker Carlos Bacca, but that too is in limbo.

Swansea City's Andre Ayew and his brother Jordan at Aston Villa are targets but West Ham have made it clear they are in the market for at least two strikers and maybe more given the likely departures of Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia.

Is Everton striker's number up?
Could the Hammers' cash be better spent on Merseyside where Oumar Niasse has been completely frozen out by new Everton boss Ronald Koeman?

The 26-year-old Senegal striker joined the Toffees from Lokomotiv Moscow for £13.5m in January but has failed to score in just 152 minutes on the pitch for the club's first team.

Niasse has not been given a squad shirt number this summer and has also been frozen out of Everton's pre-season fixtures, as reported by the BBC.

The Blues have been linked with moves for the Swansea City and Southampton defenders.

A Roberto Martinez signing, Niasse's future clearly lies elsewhere, and Everton will be keen to cut their losses on him.

With West Ham set to lose their own Senegal striker if Sakho does join West Bromwich Albion, they might be able to replace him relatively cheaply with a striker hungry to prove himself after an inauspicious start to life in the Premier League.

I can assure you what I said ain't in jest,
And I hope that you'll heed my request,
When I ask you to cease,
And leave this thread in peace,
As you're becoming quite the pest.

Peace out x
I hate that deadline day
When Jim Whyte just wont go away
we will try for Mata Koulibaluy & Witsel
But only get Idrissa Gueye

Therein lies the problem - is it all smoke and mirrors? If we're being told he's prepared to spend big money, then the expectation becomes that he will. And yet it hasn't happened, so those expectations haven't been met.

Once we sign that "breakthrough" player, all concerns go to bed. Until then, I honestly think you'd have to be pretty stupid to not have the slightest concern about how things are going.

I'm not close enough to the club to know whether it is all smoke and mirrors. There seems to be a lot of reports from papers and comments from supposed ITKers to suggest this is the case but you are right in that you can't just believe them and we need to see it to believe it.

What I base my positivity on is that Moshiri has spent big bringing the manager he wants in, and been smart in getting the DOF he wants in as well. To me that suggests he is prepared to spend but also has the long term strategy of the club in mind. i.e He has the money to spend but will be patient enough to spend it on the right people rather than just spending for the sake of spending to prove he has (had) money.

That's how I see it but I can see your point of view. Of course I will be concerned more the longer it goes without major signings but think he deserves a little more time before I make a full judgement.

Oh my word if they sign Oumar Niasse after going after Bacca, Lacazette, Batshuayi, Gomez and Ben Yedder all summer I think I'll go into cardiac arrest

...I know some have hinted at this, but perhaps there is something in the delays being due a dependency on Stones moving. Not from a transfer budget perspective but from ring fenced finances to cover increased salaries within fair play protocol.

i believe only truly pursuing someone like koulibaly would be the result of this. I asked esk this a couple of weeks ago and he said we could buy all including koulibaly without having to sell stones ... not until january at the latest anyway because of FFP.

But i have a shocking memory.

The only problem with this scenario is that sadly Bilic has eyes and therefore will watch Niasse play. So close though.
