it's common selling logic isn't it? i never see it in real life, but if i'm playing FM and 3 clubs are after a player, you keep offering them at half a million more to two clubs, accept 1, reject the other, and reject the 3rd team's lower bid and offer them a new price half a mill higher and keep going on one vicious circle until the teams can bid no higher.

He doesn't seem that impressive tbh. In his last season at City he scored 4 goals in 17 games. This season he's scored 5 goals in 18 games. He hasn't scored double figures in the league since 2011. Can't say I've seen him play recently but he doesn't sound very exciting.

We are told that there is a golden generation of players at the academy and we have probably half a dozen players out on loan playing
"real " football every week. We know that players like Ledson, Kenny, Dowell, Henen, Grant , Holgate, Pennington to name a few are highly regarded. You would think that next season at least some of the academy players will be hoping to move into the first team squad and start pushing for game time.
Why would we enter the transfer market and sign players that are not obviously better than what we already have, spend scarce resources and clog up the squad making it more difficult for young players to come through.
