Everton Transfer Thread 2016

We know the strength of our squad currently.
We are told that there is a golden generation of players at the academy and we have probably half a dozen players out on loan playing
"real " football every week. We know that players like Ledson, Kenny, Dowell, Henen, Grant , Holgate, Pennington to name a few are highly regarded. You would think that next season at least some of the academy players will be hoping to move into the first team squad and start pushing for game time.

Why would we enter the transfer market and sign players that are not obviously better than what we already have, spend scarce resources and clog up the squad making it more difficult for young players to come through.
Because you need balance to the squad.

Whilst promoting the youngsters into the first team is great practically speaking you can only probably only add about two a year. One reason is because you are unlikely to get more than that out of one age group and another that their lack of physical/mental development could impact the team too much. It also puts huge pressure on the lads, some of which may not be helpful for them long term.

LL , we already have quite a big squad, I count 19 outfield players excluding Hibbert, McGeady,Gibson, Naismith and Pienaar.
Unless we shed some more players or qualify for Europe there will already be strong competition for places.

Latest Yarmolenko percentages just been released:

He's now 8.48271% likely to join us this window.

He's now 11.19191919191919SEVEN% likely to join us in the summer.

What a load of rubbish. Would like to see how you worked that out.

I've just done the calculations and got:

This window - 100%!!!111111111111ONE!!!!

Summer - N/A, he already signed for us in January you tit

For some places we have good competition, in others like RB we don't - Browning, Holgate or Pennington will all probably spend some time there but long term they are likely to be CBs, Kenny is the only one I'd see as being able to be a true Coleman/Hibbert replacement and he is still only 18.

Given the demands of the league and domestic cups, and the money being invested by even the relegation teams, think we need a big squad to compete and that means both internal promotions and external recruitment.

One of the papers asked Martinez why Yarmolenko's agent was at the D&R game so I would guess that someone that represents him was there.

Papers are utter garbage and they know less than we do sometimes -- they likely just asked that because they read it on-line somewhere. It's not 1986 ... don't use them for anything bar your pet's mess.

Thanks mate.

Could we make this weekly just for this current window?
I don't like to pester is all.

Weekly?!?! That's like two more Yarm updates. DAILY! HOURLY! GET ON IT!
