Everton Transfer Thread 2016

we've spent about £8mil on players, £8mil on Koeman, a considerable amount on Walsh.

The money is there. We've agreed a 30mil EURO fee with Zenit over a month ago for our favourite Belgian midfielder, and are willing to go to way over £10mil to sign Williams - a proven quality centre half and the captain of a rival club...

this

we could easily gone for the cheaper option in someone like de boer

LOL at people trying to say that we can only buy when we sell.

Some people are so desperate for a conspiracy.

In fairness the sell before you buy could be true, not because of lack of money but because of FFP Wage increase rules.

Don't really know much about it, more just desperately looking for reasoning

We are obviously selling stones to fund stuff, nothing's changed.

That's fine, it happens and books need to be balanced.

This makes no sense on any level.

Even without Moshiri and the new TV money we spent 28 million on Rom and 13 million on Niasse!

There is not a chance we have been able to lure Koeman from a team that finished above us 2 years on the bounce without a substantial transfer kitty being in place.

Likewise, we would surely not have managed to poach the current English Champion's Head Scout without assurances that there is a solid plan in place and money to spend.

If we had to sell to buy, I'm pretty sure the combined talents of Koeman, Walsh and Moshiri would have ensured it had happened by now.
Clearly something is delaying the influx of new blood, but there's no logic to that being a lack of funds. Most obvious answer is that it has proved very difficult to convince the players we want that Everton is the right move but no one on here can know that for sure, and given that the likes of Witsel, Carvalho, Mata etc have yet to sign for anyone else and there's still almost a month to go, it's still very likely we will make some quality signings. (May not be any of them of course, because I don't think the media have a clue who our real targets are).

What I do know is that I have a lot more confidence that everything will be ok by the end of the window with the above three in charge of things than I did 12 months ago with Bobby, Bill and Elstone.

It's hardly a conspiracy mate, it just looks familiar that we are told Stones is 100% off this week and this will be the time we will bring players in.

Not sound vaguely related to you?

Like I said, if books need to be balanced then so be it, it's the way it should be.

Has to be said...

5 days until the 1st game of the season and it's been an awful pre-season.

How have we got to this point and only brought in 1 player. Once again we've [Poor language removed] right up. It's an absolute mess. Bollox to stay calm it'll be alright, history has proven it's never alright when it comes down to Everton......

Big week ahead. I fear it'll pass without a whimper....

This Bruno Martins-Indi rumour which has been bubbling in the background for a while doesn't quite make sense to me

He's a left-footed centre back (or an emergency left back).

We already have Funes Mori in this role.

I don't think I've ever seen two left-footed centre backs play together as a partnership. Given that there are fewer left-footed players knocking about, the centre backs always play on the left side of a partnership. Unless we were selling Funes Mori (not impossible I guess), I couldn't see this one happening.

All prem clubs have the TV money this year, we should have at least 30-40 mil before we start.

There is no way Moshiri would have come in, all guns blazing only to be slapped down by ffp - he would have known this already.

Has it been awful?

New manager, new coaching team, a DoF, positive moves on the stadium front, redeveloping Goodison.

A 'feel good' factor in the squad. And we've actually signed 2 players...

You're a melt if you're writing the season off already. For one, it hasn't even started and secondly, the window doesn't shut for nearly a month.

No chance. SOrry, Moshiri would not have come in to a situation where players have to be sold before we can buy, it completely undermines everything. Whatever the reason for us not buying (which is killing me) it won't be because we need to sell first.

I believe that Martins-Indi may be an alternative to Koulibaly should Stones be sold. Think Williams (or, a likewise experienced centre half) was always a target irrelevant of outgoings.

Our current wages will be less than they were last year. We're allowed an increase of £7m a year apparently.
