Everton Transfer Thread 2016

I quite like the idea of getting both Williams and Martins Indi as replacements for Stones. I believe in Koeman's ability to get the best out of his defenders. Williams is a leader and would be immediately our best centre half. And Koeman knows BMI well from his days in Feyenoord, so I think he would be good to battle out for a place in our starting line-up with Ramiro.

Right centre halfs: Williams and Jagielka
Left centre halfs: Martins Indi and Funes Mori

Martins Indi can also cover our left back positions if needed - and with Holgate, Pennington and Galloway this would give us good options to play 3 at the back. Or these young players can go on a loan as well, it may be better for them to get needed playing time elsewhere for a season or two - there is a free place to take for these youngster from Jagielka soon.

Then only a right back cover and a new number one goalkeeper and our defensive part of the team would be ok I believe.

I would settle for two signings by Friday with the summer being as it has.

Still much more needs to be done though, need another 3 or 4 minimum by Sept 1st for the squad to look healthy.

Hopefully we can pull off 2 of Witsel, Carvalho, Mata. Koulibaly looks gone if we sign both BMI/Williams.

Not bothered by net spend or total spend, just as long as we have sufficient cover in all areas and plug the obvious gaps.

It will be a transitional season in any case but we need to give it our best shot regardless.

Add Begovic and a striker to Williams, Martins Indi, Witsel, and Mata and it would be decent. Nothing near the spends quoted with selling Stones, but I would take it now if offered.

We might have room for a surprise or two leftover like Adrien or Rafael Silva.

If Bony is not a makeweight in the Stones deal, we need to find someone else there badly. If Lukaku is injured we are goosed.

Oh I'm trying but from being told we are dining at the top table to Nando's and Burger King.

Williams is okish but Indi is a Sunderland signing c'mon hopefully just back up for Koubialy.

The Koubilay dream died a long, long time ago.

He doesnt want it, not even a tiny bit.

The whole forum is saying we should stop holding on for players who dont want to sign, but the very second we move on people are saying "WHY ARE WE MOVING ON", unreal.

Bite into that double chicken breast pita with spicy rice at the side like its a 100 quid fillet steak... hahahaha - gotta try and see the silver linings.

I am hoping that major targets will still be acquired. If they aren't then this window will be an absolute tragedy for hanging on waiting around.

Indi was one of the most highly touted names in Europe before the world cup.

Struggled to settle in Portugal but has lots of talent.

as @bluestevon has pointed out, seems to indicate he's an alternative for Koulibaly if indeed he does come in.

However, since we're also bringing in a proven quality defender in Williams, it takes a lot of the pressure off the lad to hit the ground running.

Those two in this week at least gets the ball rolling. Hopefully we then step it up re. Mata or somebody of that ilk.

Whatever combination of CBs we've had recently they've all struggled with defending crosses or long diagonal balls. Williams and Indi are both strong and good in the air. Both have the leadership qualities we are missing throughout the whole side. Southampton had a great defence last season and that was with VVD and Fonte neither of whom are of the highest quality. If Koeman can Marshall a rock solid defence we have a great chance considering the offensive quality of Lukaku.

You want to stay at a 5 star hotel and its fully booked mate, you don't suddenly check into the local flophouse though

Indi isn't that bad at all. And as he wouldn't have to be first choice straight away could well be very smart business.

Sad to see Stones go but we all knew it was gonna happen soon enough.

So if it's 3-4 in this week, and Indi and Williams are 2 of those, and Stones goes with either Hart or Bony coming the other way, then that's 2 defenders and either a keeper or striker sorted. Still very short at centre mid before the season starts.

Koulibaly has had a good 6 months, it was utter madness spending a fortune on a gamble.

The boy Koeman knows what Indi can do, maybe he knows what makes him tick and will get the best out of him? If not, at least we havent spunked 45m on some yard dog that only broke into the Senegal team in the last 6months.
