Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Mata absolutely is the key signing - takes any team to the next level and relieves all the creative necessity from Barkley, who can then improve at his own rate.

Put Bony in the side with Lukaku as well and we are, all of a sudden, a quality side - better than the rubbish we've shown for the last two years.

Agree 100%.

If these two come in it starts the ball rolling IMO.

A playmaker (Mata has to be our no.1 choice and I think he is)
Box to box midfielder (Witsel clearly our no.1 choice - we'll hold out as long as we deem reasonable - not what the 'experts' on GOT do)
Back up striker
Goalkeeper

Not in any particular order, mind, though due to how flat we have been going forward in recent games I'd be looking at snapping up attacking options swiftly.

Some of the above will drag on, which people must understand, and there will also be more outs as the window draws to a close. Can see a flurry of activity in the next week or so, then a hectic last week

Indi was one of the most highly touted names in Europe before the world cup.

Struggled to settle in Portugal but has lots of talent.

as @bluestevon has pointed out, seems to indicate he's an alternative for Koulibaly if indeed he does come in.

However, since we're also bringing in a proven quality defender in Williams, it takes a lot of the pressure off the lad to hit the ground running.
Porto paid €7.7m for him, if other big clubs actually rated him and wanted him I doubt he would've been going to Portugal for such a fee.

Loads of clubs rated Witsel, but he went to Benfica from Standard.

Benfica and Porto have a massive draw mate. They're huge clubs who are guaranteed CL pretty much every year. He was linked with Roma, Valencia (they signed Mustafi instead IIRC), and a few English clubs as well.

Koulibaly has had a good 6 months, it was utter madness spending a fortune on a gamble.

The boy Koeman knows what Indi can do, maybe he knows what makes him tick and will get the best out of him? If not, at least we havent spunked 45m on some yard dog that only broke into the Senegal team in the last 6months.

If it is Indi and Williams for 25-30M that gives us 4 solid CD. Which we have not had in ages. 2 experienced players and 2 young Int'l first choice defenders for Holland and Argentina (hardly crap countries). 3 of whom are good in the air.

That would leave 1 GK, 1CM, 1 AM, 1 striker (possibly 2 depending on Lukaku). With stones money + whatever else is left. I think total of 4 in this week could happen. Take our time and get it right it's a long season.

Man, this is the worst transfer window ever.

Having money and then sitting about with thumbs up arses is so much more frustrating than no money to start with.

The Koubilay dream died a long, long time ago.

He doesnt want it, not even a tiny bit.

The whole forum is saying we should stop holding on for players who dont want to sign, but the very second we move on people are saying "WHY ARE WE MOVING ON", unreal.

I guess hopes were built up and now the reality is kicking in........too bad.

Roll on Saturday so I can concentrate on football this transfer window is really looking like being a disappointment.

Btw 2-1 on Saturday not sure which way yet..

Not all of our targets 'don't want it' mate.

Think Koulibaly was always going to be a hard sell, but we'll see. We may be even in for a surprise and Koeman may be looking to move on Mori? (though I serious doubt it)
