How are we bagging CL quality players when we've finished 11th twice though? Theres teams that can offer similar terms that finished above us, why come here? Its more than just money these days.

I think it shows two things.

First, our new owner was tremendously naive in thinking he could throw money at us and everyone will come flocking.

Second, the staff at Everton responsible for acquisitions are (or at least have been until recently) utterly incompetent.

It looks like we're finally using a bit of common sense and looking for B-tier signings who will improve us. Except that Bolasie wouldn't improve us at all, but oh well, the idea is right anyway.

This is how I pictured it going. City had to do the same. It does take time.

It's now 2016 and he's three quarters of the way there.

If they sign they get my support. I liked the look of Gueye on the weekend.

That said though it would be hard not to feel disappointed if we don't land one of those top lads after all of the talk.

If we don't massively increase thw wage budget this year, then the entire reason we are selling Stones for will be shown up as a smokescreen

Mate if those players left and decent replacements weren't brought in we'd be fighting relegation.

If we still had Martinez yes.

But then again...Martinez was here 3 years, it didn't happen and pursaded Rom, Stones, and Kev to stay when things were bad.

Koeman is a better manager and even if those players left...I couldn't even see him getting us relegated if Martinez couldn't.

Getting rid of a good young gun who's done well for us and undeservedly lost his place to the fit-again Baines, and still having Niasse McGeady etc on the books!?

I do think we overrate our own players a bit.

Every club does.

Anyone not thinking we've been highly incompetent and are now trying to salvage the operation with a huge operation of lowering expectations is quite frankly deluded.

Suppose we'll have to make the best of it. But it's a real shame.

Hate to break it to you, but Lukaku, Stones, Del Boy and Ross are all severely overrated. We´ll need quality to push up the table.
