Everton Transfer Thread 2016

When we had no money under Moyes we would go out and spend £5m and bring back a £10m player... now we have money I fear we'll start spending £30m on £10m standard players, finishing 7 - 8th but at 6 times the price.

I think it shows two things.

First, our new owner was tremendously naive in thinking he could throw money at us and everyone will come flocking.

Second, the staff at Everton responsible for acquisitions are (or at least have been until recently) utterly incompetent.

It looks like we're finally using a bit of common sense and looking for B-tier signings who will improve us. Except that Bolasie wouldn't improve us at all, but oh well, the idea is right anyway.

Except, mate, you have absolutely no clue what Moshiri is thinking or whether he knew it was going to be difficult or even what strategy he is playing. Instead you make morbid assumptions on the basis that you don't have any real insight into what is going on in the EFC inner sanctum.

Moshiri is a long term football man with more experience in the game than anyone on this forum. He is also a professional businessman who has amassed over £1bn wealth from a standing start. Calling him naive makes you look incredibly, well, naive...

For me, that would be a good start to the new era. It's a big old rebuilding job so not expecting too much from this season.

I should really re-assess my quality of life. Pinning a lot of my hopes on a successful Everton transfer window is not going to work is it?

I seem to think the more I check in here, the more likely it is we"ll announce a signing. Normally I'm quite logical and level-headed.

As Basil Fawlty once said to Sybil "It's just my way of getting through the day, dear. The Samaritans were engaged"
