Everton Transfer Thread 2016

It happens to a lot of clubs. I think all those players are good enough to step up though.

Do I personally think it's a great situation to be in, no I don't.

But fgs, I can't stand the absolute melting that goes on on here on an hourly basis.

Until the hammering on Saturday, let's go into it with a bit of optimism ey?

Not so long ago this very squad (bar one player now sold) was touted as the best we'd had in 20 years, and that the manager was the root of the issue.

That manager has now gone, so lets have some faith in his replacement.
Just a point I picked up on about the squad.

Yes it was per player a top squad we have had in a long time. But players have got older, other teams once below us have improved their squad and from what was a brilliant position to be in we are now looking up.

3 years ago we had the best young midfielder in the League, we are still waiting for that player to come though. In that time spurs have bought 3 better, West ham have better, Stoke have made some good signings, Liverpool have a few players there now that aren't terrible etc. Point is we stagnated signing Cleverleys and niasses whilst teams surpassing us signed payets and ali's.

Need another 3 minimum in addition to Kone/Bolasie.

GK / M / F all badly needed.

That's 5 signings and 3 weeks to do it.

Koeman did say 3 or 4 not taking that literally though, but let's hope it's at least 4 more.

Time will tell, though the last week or so have been quite sobering and the challenging of sorting Martinez' mess is rather daunting.

Koeman said at his pressed there'll be three or four new signings. Presuming Bolasie & Kone come in that's only one or two new players.

that's with the squad as it stands mate, and it's just a basic placeholder.

Four quality additions and I'd be happy. Ideally we get 5, and maybe some of the deadwood shifted.

I've bolded and underlined what we'll probably get mate.

we haven't lost yet Ash, was my point...

And neither Cleverley or Niasse will be in the starting XI on Saturday, or at least it's extremely doubtful

Fair enough mate, doubnt he will play this weekend though as both left sided players are the only ones in the back 4 fully fit

oh yeh I agree mate. May be on the bench if needed.

Williams thinking about it was never likely - as he's missed pre-season pretty much (in terms of matches).

We don't in any way need two more CMs on top of what we have now mate.

'Three or four' - that's not counting on any outgoings.

Please, everybody needs to stop wetting it
I disagree. None of what we have are good enough to start for a team challenging for Europe. Gueye might be a find but the jury is out and I would have hoped he was a punt not someone to rely on to get us where we want to go. The rest have proven themselves not up to the job either due to age or lack of quality or age.

I think you are clutching at straws if you think it's going to be any more than 3 or 4. Up to now we hoped that towards the end of the window we would get more but it's looking very unlikely now.

Got to say mate, right now the entire transfer window and preperation for the new season has been a shambles, linked with this player and that or high calibre and ended up in a panic bringing in the ones who adress major holes in the squad, ones that would hav ebeen needed even if the 'big players' would have signed as really it seems only the cm that we have been trying with those.

Williams, Bolasie (as he appears to have been a priority) - a keeper and a back up striker should all have been here by now, adn the question is why we are going into the new season with all the same holes in the squad we had last year?

I have no doubt the squad will be healthier come September, but will it overall be better? We need to be signing players to overtake stoke West ham liverpool Southampton alone and Bolasie and the like aren't these players. I'm not talking about signing 50 million pound players here, and williams was an improvement in his deal. Just when you look at it overall, as much as the squad balance is improving, is the quality over 38 games improving as well?

I don't believe we are spending this imaginary money. I can't see us spending a further 60 million on players after kone and boliasie arrive. Means we have massively stagnated again , right at the time we couldn't afford to.

It's a reasonable question.

If we're in the same state come Sept 1st, then serious questions have to be asked.

Our squad underachieved last season. Adding four (on top of what we have already brought in) would mean that we have definitely improved, and that's without factoring in a more astute manager.
