Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Maybe having Coleman out might make him re-evaluate whether we need a backup RB. It may be best for us in the long term because frankly it's absolutely insane going into the season without recognized cover for RB. It's not like it cost us two semi-finals or anything.

It's looking like this window is less the exciting one that we were led to belive and more just trying to build a squad.

Now building a squad is fine by me. Koeman needs to have his sort of squad so I'm happy to have these additions come in.

My concern right now is we have sold stones and we aren't backing thst decision up. If we sold stones and signed one or two bigger players to have any sort of ambition then great, but right now there doesn't seem to be any ambition which makes it frustrating.

Whichever way you look at it, we aimed to sign players to better ourselves and instead we are shopping at Fulham, Sunderland, Aston villa, Swansea. Poor places and even if we are lifting their best players it still screams of a lack of ambition from the club. These teams are worse than us, there is a reason why we are getting them fairly easily.

We laugh at Liverpool buying players from poor places and crying ambition at the same time.
Unless the club have some surprises left, we are actually doing worse than they are in that department. I fear that this sort of approach is going to be detrimental to the season and just leave us behind teams we were miles ahead of only a few years ago.

These two statements mate - what is it you want? Perhaps the reason we haven't spent the £100m (that only the press has reported btw) is because we can't. We have clearly tried (Witsel, Mata, Koulibaly, Carvalho are all KNOWN bids which total over £100m). What more do you expect them to do? Oh, overpay for either these players or other inferior ones?

Its disappointing but you simply can't scream 'no ambition' at the club unless you actually want them to do a Liverpool.

They just can't win can they...?

Our squad underachieved last season. Adding four (on top of what we have already brought in) would mean that we have definitely improved, and that's without factoring in a more astute manager.

Means nothing if the teams above us improve as well. Overall yes we did under achieve last season but even if we had hit where we should have done, we would have done do relying on one striker, one attacking mid, one right back, 3 centre halves with one inexperienced and the other fresh to the league, 2 centre mids and no left sided player. If anything that would be over achieving in my eyes as it is a ridiculous position for any manager to put himself in.

We do have some good players but we need better because there is only so far koeman can take us. What happens this season when lukaku Coleman and Barkley are out? Because according to the manager at least one of those positions are not going to be strengthened. All defence and little attack once injuries kick in.

Here is the thing, there is a difference between trying and failing for top players then all of a sudden under spending and signing lesser players. What would be the reaction be if United failed for pogba and Ibrahimovic and signed Cleverley and kone instead? First question people would ask is where has the money gone.

Same principle, if we don't spend at least another 50 million this window after the two mooted, then where has the new owners investment gone? Where is the TV money thst everyone else is spending gone?

Just take everything he says with a pinch of salt re. transfers - treat him like an ITK.

He's hardly gonna come out and say we're definitely signing five.

He's said three or four. If we shift some of the deadwood that will suddenly become five or six.

I disagree. None of what we have are good enough to start for a team challenging for Europe. Gueye might be a find but the jury is out and I would have hoped he was a punt not someone to rely on to get us where we want to go. The rest have proven themselves not up to the job either due to age or lack of quality or age.

I think you are clutching at straws if you think it's going to be any more than 3 or 4. Up to now we hoped that towards the end of the window we would get more but it's looking very unlikely now.

If those four end up being Bolasie, Kone, Mata and a keeper, we've had a great window.

That's counting no outgoings - which there will be more of... and they would then be replaced

Beg to differ mate

We could very well be starting with a right winger in Deulofeu playing up front alone, a 19yo cb who has never played in the league before starting at rb, one of our many right wingers shoe horned onto the left wing spot as we still haven't got a natural left winger and possibly playing a not fully fit Jagielka alongside Mori at cb, on top of continuing to play two defensive midfielders again at home with Barkley isolated once again.

All very real possibilites, do you really think that is good enough to start the season mate?
Real possibilities? I'm almost certain that will be the team.

You forgot a GK brought in for less than 1m who wasn't deemed good enough to be the starter for Southampton by our manager.

Galliani (AC Milan Transfer Guru) with Raiola (LUkaku's agent) in Ibiza last night (picture on the right) [via @cmdotcom]

Rumour talking about the transfer of Lukaku to AC Milan for their first marquee signing since their takeover from Chinese consortium.

Galliani and Riaola go back a long way. He used to act for Milan in brokering transfers even if it wasn't his client. Wouldn't look too much into this.

They'll probably spend their time there lighting cigars with Manures money lol

I very much doubt we are even in for Mata. Bolasie and Kone are good buys. Our problem is that we need more positions strengthened and frankly they have had a whole summer to do so.

We will still be way short in midfield , have no cover at RB or CF.

Koeman has inherited a very unbalanced squad.

i think it will be 3 or 4 and then maybe one or two on deadline day, as thats when clubs get clubs/players get desperate and wage/transfer fees will plummet
