Everton Transfer Thread 2016

I rate Sissoko quite highly but I'm not sure he's what we need given that we just signed Bolasie. I'd be happier signing a ballplaying centre mid or a striker. All further thoughts on this welcome, happy to be told I'm missing the point.
Let's not make ball playing centre mid a term. It's bad enough some aren't.

we seem to be going after players who know this league as well, which are lower risk. Given how much of a success finding vardy was from england, i trust walsh, but the fact his two best finds in mahrez and kante were from abroad, it is a tad surprising. We are however operating in a different market to what leicester were back then.
There's no more value in Europe. Once they hear and English club is in for them they triple the price.

I agree. We are looking for established players first and foremost so we are strengthened immediately. As brilliant as Kante and Mahrez are...they were still a gamble albeit small prices. We will dabble with that once Koeman and Walsh believe we have strength in depth.

Aye but maybe a few of these players he'd already tried or had rated from when they where in France? Certainly Gueye seems to have been.

Think people forget how good Benteke looked before the [Poor language removed] bought him. He'd be a great player to have in the squad if we could get him on form.

Agreed on Sissoko though. Don't really see what he offers that Barkley doesn't. Gets the ball, runs towards goal, generally loses it and one in ten plays a great ball...
If there's anything in the Benteke rumour then that would surely mean that Rom would be on his way?

Sissoko is gash imo. I watched him closely when he was being linked to the likes of Arsenal a year or so back and he was nothing more than a frustrating, half arsed, over rated plodder to me. Of all of the linked players this summer, he's the one I'd want us to give a massive swerve. He'd add nothing of note to our side imo.

Unless ofc Koeman really can get the best out of them, which is an unknown, seems to be a bit of a marmite coach in the past - players either get on board or fall out with his methods

It's not a case of getting the best out of them - it's getting the best out of them consistently, as you say.

Obviously Bolasie and Sissoko can be sensational on their day, but those days are few and far between. Just like Mirallas, and I really don't want more Mirallas.

It's just all so disappointing that these "massive" £30m buys are completely underwhelming.

The bids gone in for Rodriguez, told you all we were minted!

There might be something to what your saying. signing the likes of Bolasie and Williams make us stronger whilst significantly weakening those teams that were around us last year.

Was thinking similarly this morning.

We've cherry-picked from the relegated teams and lower level premier league teams to fill the gaps that Bobby never bothered to fill and to replace deadwood.

We need to show we are still a force to be reckoned with despite the failings of the past two years. Then the next stage can begin where we aim for the mata, witsel etc. type players

Some people may disagree but we've done well to have done the business we have. Walsh from Leicester. Koeman from Southampton. We're talking about taking the best players and staff from getting towards 8 or so of last year's premier league teams, and teams that finished above us. We've also taken them with relative ease which should also be praised.

Even Rafael? He's been failing for over a decade.
He is a better manager than we give him credit for. Just keeps picking the worst jobs in the world to do, inter/real after jose has left is stupid enough without then taking over a team getting relegated 2 years before that moment.

If he went to a mid table team and built something he probably would get a fair bit of rep back, instead he took suicidal moves overall, only napoli was the sensible one considering he wasn't expected to win the league there.
