lol at newcastle self imploding.

Sign some players, back benitez and now losing every week and all their best players being sold one by one.

Soon they will have a substandard team down there and not even Rafael could do anything with that.

Tbh mate the ones they are selling atm arent the ones you'd want in a chamionship slog anyways, they didnt turn up most of the games when they where in the prem lol

Sissoko and Carvalho would have made a great partnership. Not sure about him and Gueye but I do like Sissoko although these prices are eye watering.

Oh I know. Just that if we sign Benteke we are taking one of their flops

Hopefully we sign him and he scores a hat-trick in front of the Kop

Liverpool wasted years of the careers of Crouch Carrol and Benteke. They are not interested in intricate build up with a front man holding it up, or looking to cross from out wide. Since Houllier left their football philosophy regardless of manager has been to run after teams like mad dogs, hope for a mistake, then lash it forward as quickly as possible to a quick striker. Benteke is a great striker but will never flourish there.

Gueye's, bolasie, sissoko? Koeman obviously is concerned there is a lack of 'legs' and pace in the team. He has given others the opportunity to show it during pre-season, but hasn't been impressed, he is now addressing those concerns.

I think he was quoted as saying there was a lack of height and physicality as well, Williams, and hopefully Kone, go a long way in addressing that.

Have no strong opinion either way on Sissoko, but with Gueye already there, we would do better to concentrate on getting someone who could pull the strings in the middle. We have never replaced Arteta, and in today's market, this is probably the most expensive/difficult signing to pull off.

To put it into perspective. Instead of continue struggling to sign (Which we have done) the likes of Mata, Witsel, Koulibaly, Draxler, we've taken the best from Swansea, Palace and Villa and could be taking the best from Sunderland and Newcastle. Sure, on the surface these names don't inspire much. But, it's a rebuilding process and as long as we slowly start taking the best from better teams we are starting to do things the right way. We've tried for the best, that hasn't worked out. Yet. But we've had a disastrous two years so these things take time.

It;s why i could easily see us going for Sissoko, Gueye is really small so partyner him up with a much more physical player (taller), all the cm's we got linked with (witsel, carvalho etc) mwhere a similar build as well

we seem to be going after players who know this league as well, which are lower risk. Given how much of a success finding vardy was from england, i trust walsh, but the fact his two best finds in mahrez and kante were from abroad, it is a tad surprising. We are however operating in a different market to what leicester were back then.

There might be something to what your saying. signing the likes of Bolasie and Williams make us stronger whilst significantly weakening those teams that were around us last year.

Was thinking similarly this morning.

We've cherry-picked from the relegated teams and lower level premier league teams to fill the gaps that Bobby never bothered to fill and to replace deadwood.

We need to show we are still a force to be reckoned with despite the failings of the past two years. Then the next stage can begin where we aim for the mata, witsel etc. type players

A properly motivated Sissoko would be a great signing, the fee's are mental going around so it looks like a pretty standard fee (even though ridiculously eye watering).

Think that he would be our alternate to Witsel if comes off.

If we had Gueye and Sissoko in the middle of the park it would be certainly full of energy.

Only just seen that they lost at home to Huddersfield?! I have been so busy over the weekend I missed a lot of football.

And Sissoko is waiting on Real Madrid.
Perhaps Geordie delusionitis can spread to players too if you are there too long.

Sissoko and Benteke?

Fuming here

Think people forget how good Benteke looked before the [Poor language removed] bought him. He'd be a great player to have in the squad if we could get him on form.

Agreed on Sissoko though. Don't really see what he offers that Barkley doesn't. Gets the ball, runs towards goal, generally loses it and one in ten plays a great ball...
