Everton Transfer Thread 2016

I see some are still unhappy. Not like we've taken the best players and personnel (Over one summer!) from Leicester, Southampton, Crystal Palace, Swansea, Aston Villa with ease whilst we potentially await the arrival or Sunderland's best (Kone) and England no1 Joe Hart. That's 7 of the best or good as from teams in last year's league, 3 of which finished above us. We also won't sell our best (Lukaku) this season. And there's more business to come.

I wouldn't say we've taken the best from those clubs, some decent signings. If you asked people 6 months ago to pick a player from each of those clubs and a new manager, none would have picked any of the ones we've actually got in. I think now we have them they are looked on with slightly blue tinted specs. I'm not saying there bad signings and I think they will probably all be good signings but no one would have chosen them 6 months ago.

Remember at the start of the transfer window reports emerged that we'd enquired about buying the then £40m rated J Hart?
Now reports are saying we're unwilling to pay his wages on a loan. A negotiation tactic perhaps but also a clear example that the £100m net transfer budget was exaggerated and when a couple of itk's claimed we had far more than that it was just fantasy.
I still expect we'll sign Koné and a couple more and end up with a much improved squad and manager so I'm very grateful and optimistic. Perhaps if expectations hadn't benn raised to such unrealistic levels more would feel the same way.
Bullet by name ... Bullet by nature

Everton have probably done it loads of times over the years. Remember Bilic being told we're signing everyone?

"We'll go with what we've got" is a phrase in Everton folklore for a reason.

I'm not even saying it is the case; I'm just saying that at this point in time, people seem to be taking Moshiri at his word based on very little evidence.

Very little evidence?? In no particular order but..........

Martinez finally sacked and paid off.
Koeman in on £6m p.a (apparently), and Southampton paid compensation.
Walsh in from current League Champions.
Looking like land on the docks already purchased for new stadium.
Club debts cleared.
Squad already stronger than end of last season, and will probably be further added to!
Looks like Lukaku is staying.

No doubt about it there is a lot more to be done but to me the evidence is that after thirty years of treading water this football club is heading once again in the right direction - exciting times ahead me thinks, unfortunately there are some people in this world, including many on here (!), that want it all and want it now!!!!!

We've cleared some of the deadwood so that the new trees can grow

More chances for Davies Holgate etc will more than make up for the loss

Holgates already made more appearances than Hibbo last year
if the young lads get more chances i am all for that don't get me wrong. think now is the perfect time for them to stake a claim this season before ambition grows and it gets harder to break in.

No. I'm saying that a keeper who has played at Ajax, Roma and in a world-cup final (despite being second choice at S'ton last term) is currently better than Howard is now or was for the last two seasons. It's an improvement. I'm not slating Howard based on his 06-13 form, far from it.

And same applied to the Pienaar/Osman comments.

Bolasie has improved the squad from LAST season. Not from four/five years ago...

Mate, at Roma he was awful.

So you are going to refuse to answer the question, because you know you dont have a good answer to it. Again, whats the point in bringing this up now, incessantly on a Transfer rumors thread, instead of 8 days from now?

I just answered your question - I bring it up now, because the point is as relevant now as it is tomorrow, the day after, or September 1st. Until we spend money, we shouldn't expect to spend money. Until we do, all these rumours of Carvalho, Witsel, Brahimi, Koudibaly, Ghezzal and umpteens of others are basically nothing. Yeah, we can discuss them, but I find it ludicrous that those who have a bit of scepticism about these all being illusionary are villified on here when there's absolutely nothing to suggest anything to the contrary.

This is going to be one of those Lukaku things with me, I just know it now, because people aren't reading what I'm saying - here it is, crystal clear: I'm not saying Moshiri won't spend money this window, but until he actually does, then people shouldn't expect it to happen, because there's no evidence he has the capability or willingness to do so at this moment in time. That's why I'm disagreeing strongly with Esk that we should all be so confident in the money beginning to flow, because we have nothing - literally nothing - to come to that conclusion with.

Just wish people would stop crying about not buying huge names or getting pissy at ITKs.

11th two seasons in a row, new manager, director of footy and we kept LUKAKU.

I am enjoying us all hold on to names we know and out of nowhere we get linked to players not many of us have heard of and look boss.

Viva la revolution

Time is ticking and we need 3 players. If we win tonight and on Saturday and get in some quality signings we will be set up for a right tilt at it this season.

That's why I'm frustrated. There's the chance to really make our mark here but as of today, 23 August, we still sit with a negative net spend.

In short, for once everton get it right come next Wednesday and don't make it another in the our long list of tales of regret.
