Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Status
Not open for further replies.
Looking forward to next week and some red faces in here when we bring some decent players in.

Be honest though, we could bring Messi in and some smart arse will claim he doesn't track back enough on their FIFA 2016 fake world football game......we have even been told Joe Hart is not good enough for Everton by some!

It appears the promise of a few bob and being able to compete has gone to some heads a bit too much.

I see some are still unhappy. Not like we've taken the best players and personnel (Over one summer!) from Leicester, Southampton, Crystal Palace, Swansea, Aston Villa with ease whilst we potentially await the arrival or Sunderland's best (Kone) and England no1 Joe Hart. That's 7 of the best or good as from teams in last year's league, 3 of which finished above us. We also won't sell our best (Lukaku) this season. And there's more business to come.

At the moment it looks like we're going all out to secure - again - our 11th placed trophy. Let's see what the real aspirations are come next week.
That just is not true.
It is dismissing a player because they do not have a foreign sounding name or have been transferred from some European league.
The outfield players we have signed have all been the standout performers at their clubs, all premiership clubs(Gueye has never played in the Championship).
I know there is more to come but anybody who cannot see how much our squad has been improved by the arrival of Gueye, Williams and Bolasie really should be watching another sport....although I am not sure which one.

No actually, I think you can improve a side without spending big by being smart - otherwise I wouldn't be concerned by the Hart fee or the Bolasie one.

No, what I'm saying is in response to those who think we're going to spend big because Moshiri is here, not in response to what I think is the right way of going about things. I'm saying that there's no evidence that Moshiri is going to bankroll us, so those who believe he will should hold a healthy scepticism until he does, instead of blindly expecting him to smash records all over the shop and so on.

My actual concerns? The lack of a statement signing - just one - that would have made our intent clear early in the window; that we could bring in players without having to sell first. That has now gone, so my major concern now is that incomings have only happened after the sale of Stones, which makes me worry about the future in terms of our ability to make smart signings without having to sell, not big signings.

The 'statement' in your interpretation equates to supporters saying to the billionaire Mr. Moshiri 'go on then, show us yer dosh' whereas in reality the real statement will be seen at the end of the season, and will depend on league position and other probable feelgood factors like quality of the team based on what supporters have seen, not on what players have cost, and progress with the stadium. THAT'S the real 'statement' and the one that in reality, matters. TEAM SUCCESS. ENTERTAINMENT. STADIUM. PROGRESS .

And?

I'm talking about the here and now. What I'm saying applies to now and every day of the window - basically I'm advocating caution until stuff actually happens, instead of blindly hoping it happens based on next to nothing. Again, I don't understand the outrage at that stance - it's akin to someone on RAWK suggesting they might not win the league.
exactly mate, But dare to suggest anything but the general thought and the place turns into BAWK.

If we have a negative NET spend a the end of the window I think people venting their frustrations at that point is fine.

But we won't have, so lets all just chill, enjoy the decent start and see what delights Mr Koeman and Walsh have in store for us.

No, no you're not. You're behaving exactly the same way you have been since the window opened. Coming on here posting negative guff and attacking anyone who does not agree with you. Posting about "the FACTS" - when we all know there are no FACTS as the club is playing an absolute blinder keeping everything internal.

For me the biggest test of Morshiri is the new stadium and I'd rather he deliver that rather than paying over the odds for a footballer who wouldn't sign for us unless there is a shed load of money on the table who might turn out to be sh1t or do one if another offer comes along.

As I said you can't force someone to sign and the window is still open so those who are saying we haven't spent anything well

1) Stones wanted to go and so he can do one
2) Fee is massive, maybe we should have given him away so that we end up spending our own money
3) FFP means we can't go round spending sums of money on players due to FFP ( AT LEAST NOT YET )
4) Players come and go just cause a player is expensive does not mean he will be good ( Look at the crap the kopites bought for big money )
5) Bids have gone in for multiple players however people think that because it happened 20 years ago we are bidding on players we cannot pay for then reference the SKY money - crazy

Awful lot of the following at the moment on these boards and soon as the window shuts the better

I'm pretty sure that's exactly what I'm doing...

And "attacking" who? What have I done to "attack" someone? If anything, it's the other way around - for example, you are the one here on the attack.

The fact you say the club are keeping everything internal is exactly my point - we know nothing, so we should temper expectations until we know something!

Hers the issue i have with people putting up figures, they are always scewed to make there argument sound more convincing

Stones was not on 40k - widely reported he was on 30k pw, Pienaar was not on 50-70k and neither was Osman, they where on 50k and 40k respectively, so 120k in those three wages, rather than what your saying which is 160k pw (as the average of figures you stated)

You also have zero idea what wages we are paying Williams, Gueye or Bolasie mate and have just thrown figures out there

Your also ignoring Stek arriving, new deals for sevaral player, Davies, Dowell, Kenny and several more.

Do agree that as it stands right this moment - the reason of selling stones for STCC purposes looks misguided at best and dissengenuous at worst

I did say it was total guess work.......

Would anyone take Shawcross. Wonder how much they would want. I see Stoke are prob getting Jones and just wondered.

Can you answer me this? Why could we suddenly spend almost £30m on Bolasie and £12m on Williams once Stones had gone, but couldn't pull the trigger on a major transfer beforehand? Doesn't that raise the slightest doubt in your mind about where we are financially?

Because it does for me. Doubts, not "Moshiri is a fraud WAH" levels of doubt, but doubt nevertheless.

What is the shocking crime of having a bit of caution as to what's going on, given what we have seen with a completely wasted July and the transfer window rapidly coming to an end?
