We have a negative (or at the very least close to negative) net spend mate - that's a fact. We haven't splashed the cash by any definition you care to invent.

Why is this up for debate?

Look, Stones (£40k), Howard (£70k), Pienaar (£60k), Osman (£40-50k), Hibbert (£25k) - all approximates, but all off the books - unless you believe for some reason that Gueye, Bolasie, Williams and Stekelenberg are earning in excess of double or triple those wages, then we do not have a significant net spend.

And all those approximates are over what they where earning, why not approximate lower mate?

Great, so has everyone else. Our main rivals have, objectively, improved lots more, whereas middling clubs have improved at similar levels to us.

Hence why I'm not getting too excited.

Saying that, our first two games have been good so far. Long old season tho'.

Who are our main rivals?

Realistically for top six...

Liverpool - yeh, they've improved so much they got beat easily by Burnley and if not for their £150MILLION forward line (who were up against a 20 and 21 year old with 20 PL apps between them) would have been beaten easily by a depleted Arsenal as they simply can't defend.

West Ham - they've looked really poor, leggy and have a horrid injury list. Bilic is a good manager so may be there and there abouts.

Southampton - lost their best players again.

Tottenham - probably more likely to compete for a top four place but neither Wanyama or Janssen are worldies...

Leicester - they've managed to retain what they had (mostly) and added one or two decent players.

None of those sides have done spectacular business.

If I worked for Man Utd, I wouldn't be able to spout off how I think Man City are the greatest team in the world, without making clear the views are my own.

That would be daft.

Pipe down.

Right, the guy volunteers his time to this place that you and I get to use free of charge and you're obsessed with bad-mouthing.

You're being a bell, and I for one hope you feel like a tool when we sign a boss player and the rest of us are celebrating like it's 1999.

Let's be realistic.

if you are including any of below

Ossie, pienaar, Hibbert, Mcgeady, garbutt

How many games did they play in total last season
Still squad members. and senior ones who most other clubs would have had as first team players to a certain degree. If they couldn't contribute and were still part of the squad then that it down to the manager to have not replaced them /signed them in the first place.

The squad is still 7 senior players down come june, with only 4 players brought in. If we bring a further 3 then we have just filled the squad again, balance the squad at the same time and that is where the strength will come into play with more squad able to actually play.

I've said before, if we sign Witsel, Mata and Carvalho - which was said to be a certainty - then I will be celebrating with you and will make a full public apology and admit I was wrong.

I'm not seeing it though.

That I think is taking it totally out of context...its not like he said Liverpool is great etc. Nowhere do I ever see moderators posting the whole time...this is not X's (company/site etc) opinion but my own...unless they want to clarify specifically for whatever reason.

Any employee working at a commercial company represents the company...however we are here talking about a public forum with opinions from people. Usually when a GM or Moderator says something related to their function one can clearly see that. When they discuss their opinions one can usually also see that as it is an opinion not job related.

I actually encourage moderators to give their opinions...it brings a lot more to the table. Most moderators I know from various places were in fact just regular posters and due to their way of posting, trustworthiness etc they were then later appointed as moderators to improve a site. Now imagine if they all had to stop posting opinions or each time they post has to clarify 'This is my opinion only'...not good for a site's future imo.

#TeamPampers out in force today it seems - 8 and a bit days left for throwing the toys then it's onto full on throw yourself on the floor screaming, limbs. Loving the ignore feature, top bit of kit ;)

Erm....because the window is still open?

That's the goal of literally every club in the league. Most will say they've succeeded. What makes us so different then?

Its not different..its what every club wants to do, and some are better at it than others. Theres only one club were the manager has publicly stated that they will be in a relegation battle this season......

Let's be very clear here.

Esk could inform us of a thousand more incorrect transfers, and he still wouldn't be half as insufferable as you.

And?

I'm talking about the here and now. What I'm saying applies to now and every day of the window - basically I'm advocating caution until stuff actually happens, instead of blindly hoping it happens based on next to nothing. Again, I don't understand the outrage at that stance - it's akin to someone on RAWK suggesting they might not win the league.
