Everton Transfer Thread 2016

These aren't facts, BT...just your opinion.

In my opinions:

have we improved on our squad from May?

No. We've lost 5 and gained 4 so far. Time will tell how good the 4 newcomers are, they've started well tho'.

Do we still need to make signings?

Yes, action speaks louder than mere words.

Have we improved the coaching team?

We can not possibly know this until at least two full seasons are out. Martinez made such a positive impression after one season after all.
The bench in the last game looked far more impressive than last seasons. Yes many of the same players are with us, but if they play a better game isn't that beneficial to us instead of having to replace a whole squad. I don't know what you expect from Koeman or Morshiri, but I don't expect a quick fix. Right now by what I am seeing, yes I am happy and I'm not going to start sticking the knife in before anybody has been given a chance.

The next 8 days will tell us our ambition as a club. We have signed 4 decent enough players. The late appointment of Walsh and the sale of Stones has seen things start to move. We now need 2 or 3 top players otherwise questions will be asked about this supposed big transfer budget Koeman has been promised.

At the moment it looks like we're going all out to secure - again - our 11th placed trophy. Let's see what the real aspirations are come next week.

But that won't be the squad we have at the end of the window.

You're acting like it's already finished. As you have been all summer.

You,ve had your tongue up the club backside all summer to the point you wake up and go to sleep in a blue haze.
Lets see how see do in the next 9 days because another finish outside of the European places takes us backwards.

It's the way you flippantly throw figures around like our net spend. You are like @Ashtonian creating scenarios in your head then passing them off as fact.

We have a negative (or at the very least close to negative) net spend mate - that's a fact. We haven't splashed the cash by any definition you care to invent.

Why is this up for debate?

Look, Stones (£40k), Howard (£70k), Pienaar (£60k), Osman (£40-50k), Hibbert (£25k) - all approximates, but all off the books - unless you believe for some reason that Gueye, Bolasie, Williams and Stekelenberg are earning in excess of double or triple those wages, then we do not have a significant net spend.

You seem to make massive jumps in terms of assuming things. You have no proof we have funds for anything mate, sorry but you don't.

With respect it is you that is making assumptions, assumptions that reported activities did not take place.

As I said in my earlier post, an understanding of Everton's finances would tell you what we had available, that armed with additional knowledge from various sources, plus our early transfer activity gives no doubt as to whether the funds were available or not.

First point - who have we lost?

Howard, Pienaar, Osman, Stones, Hibbert. Only one of those was a first-team starter by the end of last season. None of the others contributed anything last term. We've replaced them with Stekelenburg, Gueye, Bolasie and Williams - all of whom have improved us. Quality not quantity.

Second point. We will make more signings. Again you're acting like the window has finished. Koeman said in his pre-match WBA presser he wanted to also give the squad as much time as possible before fully deciding which positions to be prioritised.

Third point, please, stop being ridiculous.

We need to change that then. Surely as a player, you would want the manager of the club that's bidding for you to speak to you personally. Also I think Koeman would have a better chance at convincing players to sign due to his reputation, than 2 men that nobody has heard of.

Love to see the fume if we had lost our first 2 games:)
People still giving out even though the club are trying to bring in players.
I'm happy that wel have a busy deadline day and reckon the manager knows who he will eventually get in and just has to wait.
Some people never be happy. Bit sad really

I think you've quoted the wrong post?

But anyway, transfers don't work like that.

Walsh and Koeman will get involved when they need to.

Koeman has said himself he prefers to be on the training ground with the players he has rather than on the phone. That's somebody elses (Walsh's) job...

I'm sure in that instance there would be no doubt.

The problem is none of us has that insight, because we're not Everton's accounting team or Farhad Moshiri himself. So that means we can only go on what we have - and that is completed transfers and the timing of them.

And while you may say you have an understanding of Everton's finances due to sources, I'm not going to take your word on that on face value, even though I like you. Because I've seen nothing to justify putting that faith in what you're saying as of right now.

lol

What is up for debate is whether you're wumming for the window or not (which when skillfully done I find amusing). Can you link a credible source for those approximates? You keep changing the point so with that friend I bid you adieu.

Are you serious?

Tell you what, if I'm so wrong on this, you tell me the correct figures. Was Osman earning a Mars bar a week or something?

They are reasonable approximations. The overall point being that we do not have a significant net spend, even if you take new player wages into account. Again, how the hell is this up for debate?
