Goalkeeper still needed, Hart is the obvious choice. Think that could go till the final day though
Centre Back still needed? For me its either a CB or RB we need to bring in. Holgate can step up and play either position. Kone still wanting out of Sunderland so therefore maybe that could still happen. Also McCarthy shown he can job somewhat of a job and RB so always that option too.
Still think if we could offload Gibson somewhere and bring in Schneiderlin for about £20/25m than that would be great business. I feel he'd be a great player for us, i'd like to see us get someone of that quality. Don't think Davies will have much of a role this season in the first team.
Do we still need another winger or centre forward? Deulofeu and Mirallas could be used as centre forward so they can be used there. Lucas Perez linked who from his record last season and his youtube videos doesn't look to bad. However Niasse looked ok in January from the youtube videos I saw.

we'll see plenty of action in the next week.

My gut feeling is still three in at least. If we ship out one or two midfielders we may see us go for a centre mid as well.

I'd say Martina - should all go to plan - will be the first one in, possibly before/over the weekend.

Very busy Tuesday and Wednesday.

Think if @Tubey did wait till the window closed, and things were still the same as they are now (I believe we will bring in a few more players) he would still get grief off some for putting his point across (not saying you specifically) it's just the nature of GOT.

Great call, sick and tired of the negative bubbles from a number of posters, 8 more days then make the judgment....

Statement of year from again from a number of posters "Underwhelmed".....get over yourselves you are not that important!

I would take Balotelli on a pay-as-you-play deal but I guess he would neither want/need that. Do they even offer these type of deals anymore?

He must be very wealthy and the desire is probably just not there for him now.

Must admit though I like the thought of giving him 5 minutes, just in the derby, and him scoring a bullet into the kop, just for the look on their faces, and his reaction. God knows we would struggle to do worse against them, given our recent "efforts".

That would be ace, but I also like the thought of them paying him a massive wedge per week for him to set off fireworks in his bathroom.

Southampton kids are the best analogy...

Bale. Left for Spurs, was ridiculed and they always lost when he played. Redknapp persisted with him and he is now in the top 5 players in the world. Achieved his potential with a very rocky patch after his initial sale.

Walcott, Oxlade Chamberlain, Chambers all went to Arsenal and have not gone on to become Superstars of the game. They have been in and out of the team through form and fitness issues and have arguably not realised the full talent that they had.

After mentioning Jeffers above too the moral is: Do not go to Arsenal :)
I hadn't really picked up on that, arsenal have been terrible for developing kids! wow, how many actual top players have they developed? Ramsey only out of what they have now? Was fabregas the last actually good young player they developed? even then he was a rooney bracket at that age.

It is a little concerning that he is going for the safe and cheap option? Will we actually see this marquee signing that we all thought we would get?

I thought the thread banner was looking a bit out of date so have come up with this updated one. Considering some of the well known links (and some rather bewildering ones), should be more apt to the current rumours ;)

They paid £5 million for Ramsey, from Cardiff.

Very happy to take him if Walsh thinks he is good.

Wonder if £16m is enough these days, with a very decent season behind him in La Liga.

I would have naively thought a few weeks ago that a club like Depor would bit your hand off for that type of money, but I think clubs are wising up belatedly to the money in the Premier League. Wenger made a telling comment a few days ago but selling clubs not budging with their valuations, and in some cases I have heard they actually increase them now after the first offer.

Gabbiadini is also valued very highly, last I saw was £25m + £5m add-ons, very steep, but that's the market we are in.

If it comes down to either of these two, I have no preference, but we'll still have to work hard to get one.

They always seem to be injured. Witshire is a perma crock. The place is like the Darren Anderton society.

Don't think Kenny is viewed as ready mate - we may well see him play a lot for the U23s - but there's no rush.

I too think Holgate is capable of being the cover but if Koeman prefers a bit more experience and strength that's fine with me.

Agree besides for the fact that the player we are linked with is absolutely terrible mate, rather have a 19yo lad in kenny or Holgate playing there and developing than a 26yo rubbish player whose no better and won't ever improve

Exactly the type of crap signing we should be avoiding if we want anyone to come through from the youth ranks

I think the only frustrating thing has been being rejected or signings falling apart.

Arno, sigurdsson, witsel (if they were even on) Koulibaly, Ghazzal, Kone dragging on, Hart becoming complicated.

Screw players that do not want to be here. With Walsh we have a proven man who will find talent that will not be Niasse. I am positive of that.

If we get Kone, Hart/quality GK and Perez by the end of the window i would be made up. Add in a playmaker or CDM to back up Gueye and we are sorted. Again, we have to be REALISTIC and clearly players do not see the the club they way we, mosh and Ron see it but that perception and lack of european football will change.
