Everton Transfer Thread 2016

Losing 4 players including howard this window i think could be negative on the sqaud unless others come in.

Granted the likes of mcgeady and naismith won't technically be missed, but at least naismith was an option. Once the option has gone then it leaves us a little stuck. Same with gibson in that sense, most of the time you won't notice he isn't here but when we pick up a couple of injuries/suspensions then having someone like him available would make a fair amount of difference.

Surely we are signing some first team players this window? I'm not doing the yarmalenko piece here, until it happens i'll asusme its just mounthino again, but there must be some sort of first team footballer waiting to be signed? Despite being squad members, we would still be letting 3 first team players go.

Sometimes Coleman can't play though. We're missing depth at that spot. Promising young player would've been nice.

Oviedo has been totally fine, and arguably decent at right back. He's just made of blu tak.

I do agree that proper competition for Coleman would be good, but not right now when we have minimum 3 places in the team that need major work.

To be fair, Darth Vadar posted this on Sunday...
West ham bound I've heard
Not saying it's legit like but the lad who told me gets a lot right

Darth Vader, Sunday at 2:42 PM Report

i'm not one for believing ITK claims but he did call it.
@Darth Vader

Hardly helps himself with his 'source' being described as "I heard"

I hear things, then they up my medication.

Sometimes though signing players for purposely back up isn't going to get them to sign on the dotted line. there is a massive difference with a cleverley 'fight for your place' and Byram 'clearly isn't going to get played over Coleman when both are fit'. If you get my meaning.

Fair point. LW and GK now please. For the life of me, no idea who either would be. And don't say Yarm.

First team = GK / LW /CM
Squad = RB / LW / CF

Thats whats needed i think. Shame about Byram as he ticks a box there. I think Martinez needs at least 2 boxes ticked this window leaving us with 4 needed in the summer when 5 players are out of contract.

To be honest mate I'd say we could fill two of those boxes with one very good signing this window - and that would obviously be the LW/CF option.

Byram would have been great to get in now and have for the future, but for the time-being I think we'll make do this window with Oviedo whose looked good there, unless Coleman has a set back (by all accounts, he should be fit for the City game, if not Swansea - though I wouldn't want him to be risked).

Naismith, Gibson and McGeady out - 1 attacking signing in - that's my prediction for this window.

Summer we then look at a new 'keeper (we just have to), a back up right back, a back up striker - that's assuming no sales of major players, which of course there will be.

Well I did hear, as in I spoke to someone on the phone who gave me the information

Like I've said find anyone on twitter or any site that called it earlier than I did, even the press didn't get wind until last night

God knows mate

Just know that he's looking at cover and that arsenal lad was mentioned

It's a strange one. I understand getting the cover in the form of a young player who wants to make the step up and will provide competition not just this season, but over the next few years.

But Debuchy is 30, not that good, on a hefty wage and very injury prone. Unless Coleman is out for a lot longer than Martinez said yesterday, then it seems a pointless signing.

For all those saying Byram showed a lack of confidence so we wouldn't want him anyways blah blah blah, it's the same scenario as when Mirallas signed for us instead of Arsenal. We were fine with it then. Can't blame the lad for wanting to play. It sucks, but it makes sense for him.

Well, Byram is 22. If he wants to play at the top level then he would sign for us in a very youthful side with 4 england internationals in it. If he wants to get games at an average level then he signs for west ham.

A future star with loads of confidence would choose us i would think.

As for Mirallas he was older and an established player who probably realised he was only ever going to be backup...
