Also to add @Ashtonian

didnt realise he was a weat ham fan so fair play then if he joins them.

One season where we are currently behind them in the table is pretty much irrelevant to me though. A player should think about his own and the clibs future prospects not just a side a few points ahead in the league with alot left to play for.

Also whose Hodgson going to watch at west ham? Hes going to have people watching us and see:

Baines--Jags--Stones--Byram which is an all english back 4 with 3 current internationals. Anyone with belief they can be a top player would want to be part of our team.

Also for the point about joining a company and then that company e.g Credit Suisse surpassing the better company e.g Goldmans....one superstar doesnt make a team and we have more superstars than west ham have or will have.

Theyve been a yoyo club for ages.

Calum chambers shouts are interesting and he would be a good signing but we have Holgate to come through who would do the same roles.
mate west ham at least win games. Also its noticed how within the next 2-3 years west ham financially should be sound, and should be able to sigh a better quality of player than they have previously. Payet alone when he is alive is quality.

Its got nothing to do with this season, unless something drastic changes then we are a mid table club now, same as last year. West ham also matched our points last year and so far having a better season than us this year. If anything, unless we learn to win games, and do it quite a bit this season, then west ham could finish above us this year! shockingly would that make them a better team than us? Yes it would is the answer, means technically, we would be the step down for him.

But considering he is coming from the championship, even playing for bloody norwich is a step up as long as he is in the team so it's a mute point who he joins.

I wonder if Martinez's pursuit of Byram was maybe down to the large bid we were supposed to have received for Coleman last August from PSG.

Perhaps the boss thought 20m for a full back that he could replace for 4m was damn good business!

History means nothing today though. Great we have won more trophies in our history than man city, if you were a player wanting to win things, who would you go to?

But yeah, i agree mate, he was a back up only and i would have liked him to join. To be fair though he would have played here if he had came, but only until coleman was fit again.

That was my point too mate.

But I don't think he'll win anything more with West Ham than he would with us.

Think it's down to first-team football and wages, personally.

i cant remember, but someone in the last window, literally said the same damn thing.

we lost out to someone late on as well

so i found it! it was West Ham AGAIN!

I dont think winning 2 or 3 games to push up to top 6 or thereabouts would be a drastic change.

Bit of an overstatement whatever our current level of winophobia is.

exactly, thats why i respect the lad for making that move. I'd rather play coleman than byram so can understand why he won't join us for that reason alone.

Not nif the teams above us win as well though.

considering the fixures so far, its not a long bet that we aren't winning enough games and there is chance we might not win too many more for the rest of the season. Rather than delude myself and think we are about to turn a corner, its been 15 months and still waiting to turn it. If we start winning games and move up the league then great, we clearly have the players to do it and enough quality to justify doing so as well, but the table doesn't lie.

agree that we've had plenty of 'easy runs of games' in the last 18 months which have then fizzled out before they've even begun.
