You mr positivity aren't you, we be above West Ham in 3 games time
Hopefully we will mate.

Im not being negative to be honest, just realistic. You keep getting your hopes up and you get games like stoke/chelsea/bournemouth/leicster to name a few. all i care about right now is the city game next week, we win that and the season can be written off for all i care for the sake of the final.

just think the problem mate is the fact MArtinez is learning from his mistakes this year, and results arent changing for the better.

I know everyone is saying its dead in the water but if we go back in with more money today who knows about Byram.

History means nothing today though. Great we have won more trophies in our history than man city, if you were a player wanting to win things, who would you go to?

But yeah, i agree mate, he was a back up only and i would have liked him to join. To be fair though he would have played here if he had came, but only until coleman was fit again.

Rubbish mate, history of a club does mean something even today, comparing West Hams pull to Man city is laughable, City attracts top quality p;layers now because they have been winning things, but when they first got the influx of money they just had a revolving door filled with overpaid mercenaries coming in for a season or two for a payday before moving on, took them 3-4 years at least and a LOT of players before they won a few things and could then start to bring int he real quality they can do now.

West Ham have a new stadium as of next season they may get bought out after that - but right now they have grubby little porn baron owners with a son whose tweets are an embarrassment to the club and one player who is carrying them - if Payet was injured all season they'd be in a relegation battle, so a few absolute non entities of players joined them ahead of us - so what, Mirallas joined us ahead of Arsenal - can guarantee who the bigger club of the two is though.

West Ham - best ever top flight finish - 3rd, as for any player wanting to move their to win things, errrrm how you figure that one out exactly, have they shown any sign of being able to win anything other than the championship when they inevitably get relegated again?

How is that rubbish?

We haven't won a trophy in 21 years is it? So any player who we are looking to sign (and chances are born around our last trophy win) wouldn't see us as somewhere to win things. We are no closer to winning the league or european cup than we were 21 years ago, and haven't hardly made that ground up either. So the here and now is what matters, and you want to win things, sign for city, we aren't the club we were before in more ways than one so for a lad who was one when we last won a cup, our history means naff all. Ergo, we are on the same level as west ham now, and the more we kid ourselves of that the more we turn into them lot over the park with their yearly rivalries against anyone succesful.

As i keep saying the table doesn't lie, and after 50 games since august 2014, we are a mid table club. in 8 months we are still in the same position therefore we aren't some underperforming top 6 club anymore.

I am a bit gutted about Byram, I really like the lad. However it's clear why he would have chosen West Ham. It's not going to be money (as they won't be paying more than us) or alternatively it's not because they are a bigger club than us. If anything his decision is probably because they are a smaller club/team than us.

Look at it logically. At West Ham he has to overcome Jenkinson who is likely to go back to Arsenal at the end of the season. He is probably ahead of him already. At Everton he has to overcome Coleman or Deulofeu. Coleman is 26 in the prime of his career. If I was Byram that would really worry me and I would be concerned about stagnating and not being given opportunities.

We are all subjective in football. But objectively if he chooses to go for West Ham that is probably the right call for him. Not because they are renting an Athletics Stadium or because a club who have never won the league and haven't finished above us in about 20 years think they are bigger than us. But because he will get an opportunity to play week in week out when he is clearly performing well this season, and he can nail down a first team place.

I have a respect for that. I'm sure the cockneys will try to spin it otherwise but what it comes down to is he is better than Jenkinson but not better than Coleman. Fair play to the lad for coming to that realisation but ultimately prioritising playing football. I'm sure some will want to knock him for that, but I respect him for taking that course of action if he does.

I am very disappointed as I've always liked him as a player. However not signing Byram will not make an adverse immediate affect to our first team.

The performance are getting better, Chelsea was just a really unlucky game in every aspect, even Costa wasn't seriously injured :( I can see us going on a winning run now.
The problem that all North clubs are gonna have is the attraction of London clubs and it's slowly getting harder as foreign players want to go to London, Utd and City will pay big wages for player to go to them doesn't mean they will settle, Di Maria for example. In the case of Byram, he's gone for 1st football and is also a West Ham fan. Ogbonna and Payet choose West Ham because there in London

But this situation is exactly the same as 2 months ago. run of winnable games, we are going on a run etc, and we won exactly like 3 games in that time! This is my point, we keep saying it and its not happening. We are good enough to do it though, and on paper we have argubaly one of the best teams in the league away from your rich clubs, but results are all that matters. If it turns out to be a league cup win then fantastic, i'd call the season a positive one for that.
