Gonna be some absolute belters in the next few days some good some bad.
Can also see some really really unlikely deals being done.
I mean who'd have thought Hart and Sunderland would even be rumoured never mind likely.

Know the geordies can't stand him, also dunno if we want a player who has one good game in ten usually against a big team then starts on in the press about getting a move to a big team right after, swerve him.

Not that the money aspect of things should be a factor for fans beyond it allowing us to get the people we want, but I agree.

Just because the money is there doesn't mean we have to blow it on whatever is available. If we can improve the squad but selling players that don't fit, we can afford to wait until the right players come along to spend any surplus funds we may or may not have.

Having money doesn't mean you can be flippant with it. That's how you do a villa/Leeds/Portsmouth/Newcastle etc etc.

I think there were several factors tbh, Jose being his usual wily old fox in allowing interest to be generated, then saying he wanted to take him in tour to China, all whilst the Pogba deal appeared to have slowed (at the time). Secondly there was the realisation that Mata could command a higher fee later in the window, and thirdly his agent was extremely busy in generating interest elsewhere for his client Mata.

From Mata's perspective given the choice of regular football at United or a move elsewhere he preferred to stay where he was. It was only the uncertainty of how much play Jose would offer him that caused him to consider seriously moves elsewhere.

As ever with Jose you can never be sure of his real intent, hence the thought that Mata may still move before the window closes.

Think from stuff i saw its a Hernia op - which lots of players have put poff till the offseason in the past (Ferguson for us a couple of times i seem to remember)

IF he's going now it's interesting timing though - as to why we didn't decide do it straight after the Euros finished etc.

Quite possible that he can still bes sold and put his op off to a future time really

Ive read some saying he was stellar for FCP for 6 months a couple of years ago, and thats it.
I doubt thats true, seems like a real player.
