Can Martinez realistically sign anyone now, perhaps knowing that potential new owners won't sanction a big transfer budget either now or in the Summer for a Manager who is under fire andpotentially not gonna be here next season? We also get anxious and jealous when lesser teams splurge, and it always gets them nowhere. Newcastle spent 46m this summer, and did it so poorly that they need to throw money at the squad all over again. Villa spent even more and look where that got them. Why is it so difficult to be patient? Why are our transfers while the window is still on judged by how expensive they were? There are people on here would actually be happier if we'd spent three times more for the Swiss because they'd rather we "give a signal of intent" than get value. I'd rather we continue to be smart about transfers.

mate, you want to be like Newcastle??? there is something to be said for not going out and spunking cash on just any old cart-horse. If we were 30+m down after buying who they bought I would be incandescent with rage. If we get someone: fine, if not, it really doesn't matter. This season is done. Mid-table mediocrity assured.
