Daily Star (yeah, I know) reporting that Rooney is unhappy with Mourinho taking over from LVG.

Also, coach of Dynamo Kiev urging Yarm to head to the PL. Arsenal supposedly interested in him

Unless we win the fa cup and qualify for Europe that way I don't think Yarmolenko would be keen on a move to everton anyway. I think that will be the case with any top quality player.

Payet signed for West Ham just last season and proved that wrong mate.

The PL is a different beast compared to the rest of Europe.

A mid-table, heck, lower table side can offer parity wages wise with the likes of Dortmund, Schalke, Roma, Milan, Inter, Atletico, Porto, Benfica, Lyon... the list goes on.

Players want to play in the prem. In the grand scheme of things, that's why @davek thing of not being 5th or 15th is kind of right.

I mean, everybody would rather finish 5th don't get me wrong, but it doesn't make a huge difference in the players we can attract because of the money available.

Weren't West Ham still in Europe when he signed?

They got in by the fairplay league and were knocked out in the first round at the end of July/early August.

Payet went there for the £70k p/week (now £120k) and to play in the Premier League. Simple as.

Being in the 3rd qualifying round of the Europa League will have had zero impact on his decision.

Players don't care about the Europa. Europe only becomes a factor when it's the Champions League - mainly because of the bonuses involved and the chance to play on the biggest stage.

The PL is currently just as high profile.

Amazing how many are willing to desperately pick up a stick like 'players not wanting to stay' to beat a manager with. We finished 11th last season and not only kept what we had but added to the squad.

No use presenting facts though.

The two week window of opportunity for venting is almost over. Thank goodness.

would like to see us go after fraser forster as our new keeper...

defence - fonte

midfield - oxlaide chamberlin

forward - Walcott

if Arsenal do actually have a clear out then we should be looking to buy from them. their players are under-performing mostly due to not having a proper run in the team. I think if the ox had a decent run of 20 games or more he would become like delli alli at spurs, I don't think they would be as injured as they are at arsenal.. its just an arsenal problem with the all the injuries I think.

We getting Brendan Rodgers in before as well looking at that list?

Think it was the national coach who said that about Yarmolenko mate - not the Kiev one - the Kiev coach did say it about 3 months back though

In fairness Dave, they have a point in saying that finishing 11th (or worse) two years in a row isn't going to help at all persuading the likes of Rom or Stones to stay.

But it doesn't stop us going for the players that will be our targets.
