Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

I don't find it funny how far we are behind clubs like Leicester, Wolves and Sheff utd its pathetic and negligent that we aren't even competitive with those teams. Its unacceptable and needs to change starting this summer. Carlo needs two midfielders a right back and a right winger that delivers, no more sticking plasters.

The ship had sealed this season when Silva got the club to 18th.

Carlo will get Everton to 5th or 6th.

With respect, I think you need to use a different word than depth.

They have more quality in certain areas of their first 11, for sure.

Depth wise they arent that deep.

Which has been my point all along.

We have missed our 3 best CMs all season, Carlo has changed the side in every game we have played due to injuries, players returning from injury.

When all our players are fit do we have a better midfield than Leicester or Wolves? Probably not, for me Wolves have 1 of the best in the league and Ndidi and Maddison are quality. But my point has been, what happens if Wolves lost Jimenez for a season? Or Leicester lost 3 players for a long period?

My only issue has been your usage of the word depth, it implies they have a stronger squad, quality in depth, when if you delve deep, they dont.

People are so reactive, we sacked Silva when we were like 18th, we have suffered injury after injury, of course we are behind any team with any talent.

I don't think this has been pointed out enough, by fans or media. We've been rubbish for the most part this season, but I doubt there's another team in the league who had their top 3 players* in a position all spend at least half the season out with injuries and have to rely on and rotate between 4th & 5th choices plus a no10 who has barely played in the deep midfield positions during his PL career. Factor in as well arguably our best player in Gueye leaving, there's understandably a drop-off.

*Alright, we knew Delph would do that but I don't think Gbamin or Gomes had spent that much time out injured prior to this season. It's awful luck and while we can't be sure, we'd probably have had a better go at getting into Europe without those injuries.

People give no leeway.

In the Summer we bought Gomes and Gmblammo for 50m, they were our first choice midfield, we then bought Delph to add, erm, stuff, to add to the players we had, which were a bit stinky.

Gmblammos leg fell off, twice, Gomes suffered an injury that 10 years ago would have finished his career and Delph did Delph things.

Nobody has a clue how it would have gone with Gmblammo and Gomes staying fit all season, I guarantee it certainly cant have gone much worse tho.

In 1 of the many tactical breakdowns I read regarding Carlo it said he prefers his RB to be very good defensively and his RW is given almost a free role without worrying about getting back.
Well, that might work then. Of course, it would require a right wing worthy of being given said free role.

Dalot apparently got dropped for Fosu Mensah, I mean I'm not a fan of developing other Premiership team players but might be worth a look if the report is true.
