I'd be very much in favour of Romero coming in. Ideally it would be enough to shift Pickford out, but that would be more problematic. Pickford on the bench is still an acceptable option.
He's happily been second choice and cup keeper at United, so if he has the belief that he could oust Pickford and become number one then it could be a draw.
Pickford needs competition from someone who we could actually rely on to start games, let alone regularly, and it could be the catalyst for him bucking his ideas.
For me, this could be a real step in the right direction because the defence need to be able work with and trust their keeper. Can they currently do that?
Quick question. Just how many South Americans are we allowed to have in the team?
We could have 17 if we wanted if you're talking about players being over-21.
Is there not a limit to how many can play?
...I imagine we can only have 11 in the team.

If I'm honest, I'm not fully versed on the rules; from what I do know/have read, from a potential squad of twenty-five* you need eight home-grown players.
Home-grown is a player who has trained in England for three years from 17-21, and I think four of those have to be at the club too.
Apart from that, I don't think there's a set limit from any country or region. However, there'll be others who know much more than myself.
*U21 don't need registering but they can be to help meet the quota of home-grown etc.
The right back position is obviously the next area to be filled if Kenny is not going to be the successor to Coleman.
Looks like he is revamping the midfield completely which was obviously needed. I do wonder where that leaves Gomes, as if Carlo goes 4-4-2 where does Gomes fit it?
Is it more likely he is buying these players to play in a 3-5-2? with Digne and the right back getting forward, Allan providing the anchor with Gomes and Doucoure providing the technique and energy with Rodriguez in front of them?

If we get James Rodriguez and Allan I would like to see us go 3-4-3 as it would mean we only need 2 more players for first team. A right wing back and a left centre back.

I would sell 2 out of Walcott/Iwobi/Bernard and Sigurdsson if possible. I would keep Delph until Gbamin is up and running. Davies needs games so would loan him out and see what he can do. Coleman would be my back up right wing back. Kenny, Keane and Gibson would be cover at centre back. Kean, Gordon and the winger we keep from above would cover the front 3. Basic, Bolasie and Sandro will hopefully find new homes.
