Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

That sounds even worse .
Thanks for putting it in plain and cold terms for me . It sounds a tad scary but totally logical .
I do think it’s a short term issue though.
In two years say, we would look much healthier due to the fact that the wage bill should be reduced.
Thinking about the list of players that would be gone who don’t have any real impact on the team. We just need to get the wage bill down, turnover up. Then we’d be back to be self sustaining.
We are taking a calculated risk at the moment. A short term one. Moving 6 places up the table for instance is worth 12m. We’ve created the need to sell players now having already reduced the wage bill ahead of the 3 we’ve signed. So as we get rid of players now or as they gradually see out of their contracts, it makes the wage bill healthier without it being detrimental to the team.

think Sandro, tosun, besic, Walcott, bolasie and Delph.

from this point, any of those players going would have a very small impact on the first team. But you are talking probably £21m in wages a year from those players. And our wage bill is about 90m.

The majority of nearly 25% of our wage bill gone in 12 months time.

It’s precarious at the moment but we’ll sort it out.

Moshiri's got an accountancy background.

People don't understand football is an exceptional business. I've worked in football in a limited capacity but got some good insight - it's nothing like any other job I had before or since.

People don't understand they aren't privy to all the facts or what can/will happen.

All that considered, people also should really learn to not be so definite and assertive in what will or will not happen. Example from last week, and sorry to pick on you @The Esk but you're a vocal commentator;

I've done a bit of accountancy work while I was still studying at college as I wanted to a CAT ( are they even still a thing ) and can get a grasp on macro and micro economics but the kind of entity that runs a major sporting club is way above my basic learning so that's why I usually take things that seem black and white presented by someone who seems knowledgeable as gospel . I'm too gullible .

mr @GrandOldTeam i see this buddy blatantly ignored ur kind request and spat in ur face please deal. i hope the everton sign jose altidore for sheer aggression.

Cough...

'Playing The Ref'
Attempting to moderate the forum by stating what should, and shouldn't be discussed or attempts to get another user banned by posting things such as "abuse! ban him!" is totally unacceptable, and will not be tolerated on this forum. This is basically the internet equivalent of a footballer waving the imaginary yellow card at a referee, and is completely unhelpful. If you see a post that you believe is in violation of the forum's Rules and Guidelines or Terms of Service, it would be highly appreciated if you could use the "Report to Moderator" function to bring it to our attention.

Blimey , mini Esks all over Twitter saying our accounts are almost Leeds like .
I don't think they grasp the fact that Mosh and his best mate didn't get rich by taking stupid risks . The pair are dodgy as F but they are super rich for a reason .
Unsurprisingly the LFC chief arselicker at the echo is "worried " about our finances . No you biased poor excuse for an editor who uses no more than two syllables in a sentence . You're worried about this phoenix .
I don't know why I go on Twitter . Opinion is fact and vice versa . No grey area and no room for debate .
Rant over . Muppets .
I don’t go on twitter for that very reason
People pretending to know what they’re talking about so they can get more followers, it’s pathetic really
Our billionaire owner is not just a billionaire, he’s also an accountant lol! As if he’d mess this up!

Think unless it's a loan, likely to see things go quiet now till the end of the window for incomings.

The major job was the midfield. Another pacey forward, right back, goalie to push Pickford think would be the icing on the cake.

Brands work really starts now shifting the deadwood.

in other words drink it in the next few days as think that's your lot for while.
I will be vaulting this post in due course
At least 2 more first 11 players to come

This is why Twitter is the absolute pits of football fan discussion. For every nugget of gold, there's a billion pieces of utter jarg. It takes too long sifting through the rubbish to actually get any real value from it.

Oh dear you’ve caught yourself in an ironic paradox. I’m not sure how to help you get out of it, perhaps the force of three budget-busting signing will free you from its gravitational pull

I'll be more than happy to be vaulted if it means we've gone in hard on the transfer market

Unfortunately a lot of it finds it's way here and is given added traction. Partly why it's a priority for me to try and work out a solution to help the forum crowd vote credible sources without being a bit North Korea.

The thought process so far is fans up/down vote sources, those down voted display a prompt to a member of "This source is considered to be a poor quality by the community - do you still want to post it?"

Also "This post includes a tweet. Are you confident the tweet is authentic? Read here for some tips on how to check" style.

It's not easy...

Is it possible for one of our resident financial experts to explain to me possible ways that we might circumvent some of the accumulated negative numbers that make up FFP?

I get player amortisation helps to spread cost and that increasing revenue/sponsorship helps to offset some of that. I also get that stadium costs can generally be discounted. But didn't I read somewhere that it is possible for an owner to inject upto £40M of their own cash over a 3 year period to reduce this - or did I imagine that?

Also, if that Watford ITK is correct (for argument's sake) and we have secured a £127 million loan for transfers, why wouldn't this affect FFP? I remember we arranged that bizarre credit facility with the Bank of China - but I don't see how this helps us?

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, but I can't find it. Unlike some this morning, it seems, I am not particularly worried about our accounts given Moshiri's background etc. However, it does appear from the outside that we shouldn't be able to do what we're doing due to FFP.

Anyone think they can explain/put forward theories?? As I for one, still want a decent RB, a pacy option wide left and a decent GK option!
No one seen the 30 million to be allowed bid for stadium rights coming
Lads can speculate all they want but Usmanov and Moshiri employ some of the best accountants and lawyers that money can buy.
These lads have ways of making money we can’t even imagine.
It was reported that Usmanov leased empty oil tankers before lockdown.
When oil prices hit negative territory he had lads giving him oil for free and he stored it on these tankers.
Then sold it when things picked up.
It’s pointless trying to second guess these lads

not to steer too of topic but I figure this is a broader issue with the internet. The idea of regulating things the way other mediums are regulated.

I can arguments for both ideals but I definitely think news sources need to be regulated in some way.
