Everton Transfer Thread - Summer 2020

I'd say Italian Darren Bent myself. One hot season and he will spend his entire career with a reputation no matter how many times he scores 11 goals in 35 or whatever.
I haven’t seen much of Belotti, but 72 goals in 162 for a mid table Italian side, is a good record imo. Just over 1 in 2. And 1 in 3 for Italy.

I know he’s 26 and Calvert-Lewin is 23. But DCL has 1 in over 4. in the next 3 seasons. He would have to get over 50 league goals to get a similar record to Belotti. And if he did some of you lot would be hailing him as one of our greatest ever strikers.

We know that DCL can score goals in this league, we have no idea if Belotti can, do you want to pay 50m to find out?

I get that people consider DCL a risk, due to him only showing up this season, but I would rather spend the 50m elsewhere and go with Rico, Kean and DCL, would be shocked if we have European football next season, so dont see how we need 4 Strikers.

He seems a very good player and if we didnt have Morgan Snides and Theo Walcott playing games for us I would defo be all for rolling the dice.

Belotti had one great season where he scored 26 and the other seasons are 12, 10, 15 and 9 so far this year which puts him on pace for 15 again.

Which is why the Darren Bent comparison makes sense to me. He hit 27 or whatever at Sunderland and then a bunch of seasons around 10-15 was enough for people to keep believing he would get hot again. I see Belotti spending his career the same way.

On the other hand we have DCL still on the up swing. And maybe for DCL this season is the same as Belotti at 23 where he scores a number he never touches again. But we can find that out without spending 50m so I'd probably just do that.

Someone averaging a goal nearly every 2 games fir 5yrs in one of the top leagues, playing for a smallish mid table club. Does not equal one great season, by the way lukaku averaged a goal every 2 games for us. So did he just have one good season?

And I’m not taking about buying him, or paying 50mil fir him. I’m just saying anyone who thinks Calvert-Lewin is ahead of him at this moment in time is taking rubbish

I don’t think we will sign and I agree about not needing 4 strikers and spending the money elsewhere. And this wasn’t about us buying him.

My point was people saying he wasn’t a good striker and Calvert-Lewin is better and. Calling him the Italian Callum Wilson. The fact like I’ve just pointed out he has similar goals per games record for torino that lukaku had for us, I’m saying he’s a much better goal scorer than some people of giving credit for.

If we're talking about the here and now Calvert-Lewin is playing better. If you want to look at the last 5 years then well yes Dom wasn't very good when he was 19.

I like to meme.

People wanna spend 50m on the Italian Callum Wilson bruv, totally ignoring that unless you have somebody to feed the Strikers it wouldnt matter if we had prime R9 in the side.

i know what your seating and agree ... but prime R9 didn’t need service. Just give him the ball 40 yards from goal with utop 4 opposition players around him and he would do them all... then the GK.I loved watching him, worlds greatest ever imo. If I could pay money to watch any players in history I’m their prime.... he’s be my top choice followed by Zidane

The thing is Ancelotti WILL be backed this summer so when people say "why spend £50 million on a CF when we need x,y,z" confuse me - who's to say we still wont sign those players in addition?

Yes we need a CM, CB & RW for example but if Ancelotti gets Allan for say £20 million, Gabriel for £30 million and some RW on loan or another say £25 million then £45-50 million on Belotti is a no brainer if the manager wants him.

We are desperate for a lethal CF imo - whens the last time we spanked a side 4-5 goals to the good? Been plenty of times this season gone when we were holding on to 1 goal leads or not putting a game to bed and dropping points because of it.

I said it all last season until we replace Lukaku we'll not qualify for europe again or certainly not push for the CL - Leicester have good players but take Vardy out the team and they dont get top 4.

What happens if we buy bellotti, Rodriguez, Allan and under? I feel we do need another striker if we're going to play two Up top. How we'll manage to offload players is beyond me but I suppose that's less of a worry if ffp is scrapped.

My feelings are, with a lot of these rumours from Italy that Italian clubs will be in quite difficult financial situations and are pushing a lot of these rumours. Obviously Ancelotti + a club with a lot of money= a solution.

There are faults to Brands (though overall I think he's done a really good job) but one of his strengths has been how he negotiates prices down on players. I cannot see, in a million years us paying £50m for Belotti. Not when we signed Kean for around half of that amount last summer.

It may well be that we try to squeeze value out of players such as Belotti but if he were to come I suspect it will be for ballpark 40% of that figure.

A couple of points mate. Yes I think Ancelotti will be backed, but the market is going to collapse this summer. We are not whacking £50m on Belotti in that context.

The 2nd point is, is Belotti really that good? Is he Lukaku level?

His biggest goal return in Serie A was 26, that was in his second season 2016/17, since then his league totals have been 10, 15 and 9

To compare, Richarlison has only scored 1 fewer in league football since he’s been here than Belotti has in the same near 2 season period, 2017/18 Wayne Rooney scored the same amount of league goals and didn’t score for half a season, Oumar Niasse scored 2 fewer and in 2016/17 Lukaku scored 1 fewer than Belotti in his good season
